Will the Reds’ record remain spotless in the Merseyside derby?
Liverpool Football Club has played five competitive matches in the Premier League and Champions League so far this season. All five games have been won, with the decisive goals always coming in the closing stages! Whether it was Virgil van Dijk on Wednesday evening against Atletico Madrid, Mo Salah last weekend in Burnley or Dominik Szoboszlai in the top match against Arsenal – Arne Slot has always been able to rely on the lucky punch qualities of his protégés!
However, the Dutch championship-winning coach would certainly have no objection if his Reds came out on top in Saturday afternoon’s Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton without another last-minute goal.
However, it could be another test of patience for the reigning champions, who are yet to drop a point and lead the table with maximum points. The Toffees have also made a very solid start to the season. A bitter 0-1 defeat to newly promoted Leeds in their opening game was followed by three PL matches without defeat. They picked up seven points against Brighton, Wolverhampton, and Aston Villa. In two of the three games, David Moyes’ team also kept a clean sheet.
In general, the blue club from Liverpool defines itself very strongly through its passionate and meticulous work against the ball. Three goals conceded after four matchdays is an absolutely satisfactory statistic, surpassed by only three other clubs. By comparison, even leaders Liverpool FC have already conceded four goals. The Liverpool vs. Everton prediction of a hard-fought victory for the Reds, who are naturally considered to be the stronger side, is therefore obvious.
Just for this Merseyside derby, which has been very competitive in recent years, you can once again benefit from Merkur Bets Superboost. Instead of 1.46 on a home win for the Premier League title favorites, you can get 10.00 on LFC. The minimum stake is €10, so if you win, you’ll secure €100 in bonus credit. All the details and step-by-step instructions can be found above the table of contents.
Liverpool – Everton Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
Anfield Road has not been a particularly good place for Everton FC recently. Of their last 28 away games at the LFC’s football temple, the Toffees have won just one (1-10-17). For the first time in 90 years, the Reds are on course for five consecutive home wins against their city rivals.
In general, the head-to-head record ahead of the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton clearly favors LFC. In the last 29 PL derbies between these teams, the Reds have come out on top in 14 cases. Thirteen draws and only two Everton wins round off the record. In five of the last seven city derbies, the Toffees have failed to score, which further supports my prediction of a maximum of four goals in the game. Incidentally, last season saw a narrow 1-0 victory for the eventual champions!

Liverpool – Everton Tip
David Moyes has experienced almost everything as a soccer coach on the island. However, there is one thing the 62-year-old has not yet achieved: winning an away game at Anfield Road. The Scot has visited LFC 20 times in the Premier League with various clubs.
There have been six draws and 14 (!) defeats. Moyes has even lost all of his last seven PL away games at Alroy Road. Not a good omen for a surprise coup in the city derby on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m….
Despite the double burden that the Reds successfully overcame on Wednesday evening with a 3-2 win against Atletico Madrid, thanks to a bit of luck, I expect that the star ensemble around Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, Mo Salah, and Co. will live up to their role as favorites at home and secure their fifth victory in their fifth league game of 2025/26.
However, the Toffees’ defensive strength must be acknowledged, as it could well prove to be a test of patience for the home team. It therefore makes sense to combine the home win with under 4.5 goals. Merkur Bets is offering odds of 1.97 for this, which I am betting on with four out of a possible ten units.
