Will the Danes continue their winning streak?
After three matchdays in the UEFA Europa League, the first trends are becoming apparent as to which teams will advance to the knockout stages and which teams could find themselves in a tight spot. This week, Midtjylland welcomes Celtic Glasgow, and the tip on the home team is rewarded with odds of 2.10 at the top.
The Danes have certainly been one of the positive surprises of the tournament so far and are sitting pretty in the standings. The Scots, on the other hand, are fighting to reach the round of 32.
With three wins and a perfect nine points, the Red and Blacks are sitting pretty at the top of the table. Only Sporting Braga and Olympique Lyon have the same record. Maccabi Tel Aviv, Nottingham Forest, and Sturm Graz have so far been unable to stop the Wolves. This means that the hosts now have the best chance of qualifying directly for the round of 16. A win against the Scots would be the next big step in the right direction. The “Ulvene” have been extremely strong in front of their own fans so far this season.
The Green and Whites, on the other hand, are currently just above the relegation zone in 21st place. With a balanced record of one win and one defeat from their three games, they have collected four points. A defeat on Thursday would see the “Bhoys” slip out of the positions that qualify them for the next round.
Midtjylland – Celtic Glasgow Head-to-head record
The two teams have only met twice before. Five years ago, this duel was about qualifying for the semi-finals of the Champions League. Both games ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes. In extra time of the second leg, the Danes scored the decisive goal to advance to the next round.

Midtjylland – Celtic Glasgow Tip
The 2024 champions are once again playing an outstanding role in the Danish Superliga. The Red and Blacks have collected eight wins and five draws from 14 games. Their total of 29 points currently puts them in second place in the standings, two points behind leaders Aarhus. With 36 goals scored, the Danes have by far the best offense in the league. Gluda Dju, the man from Guinea-Bissau, has been particularly accurate in front of goal, scoring 13 times. The 16 goals conceded are the third-best record in the Danish Superliga. Across all competitions, the Wolves have lost only one game and are unbeaten in eleven competitive matches.
Head coach Martin O’Neill’s team is also well on its way to qualifying for the Championship group, in which the top six teams compete for the title. With six wins and two draws, the Bhoys have a total of 20 points. With one game left to play, they are nine points behind leaders Heart of Midlothian. They are seven points clear of the relegation zone. With only eight goals conceded, the Green and Whites have the best defense in the Scottish Premier League. They have scored 16 goals, which is the third-best record in the league.
There is a lot at stake for the visitors in particular in the upcoming fourth game of the league phase. A defeat would very likely see the Green and Whites slip out of the top 24 places and threaten an early exit from the competition. Across all competitions, the visitors have gone three away games without a win. The hosts, on the other hand, lead the standings with three wins and shine particularly in front of their own fans with excellent results.
