Will Torstensson’s team prevail against their formidable opponent?
Mjällby AIF is currently playing its 14th season in Sweden’s top division, to which the most successful club in the province of Blekinge returned in the 2020 season. However, that 14th season could now potentially be a groundbreaking one. After 16 matchdays, Torstensson’s team surprisingly leads the table by four points. Even if Mjällby were to suffer their first home defeat of 2025 against AIK Stockholm, they would still be guaranteed to remain on the sunny side.
However, it should be noted that AIK, Mjällby’s biggest rival, is now coming to Hällevik, where the yellow and blacks play their home games at Strandvallen. Only three of the 21 Allsvenskan duels between the two teams have gone to the underdog (eight draws, ten defeats), which is why the prediction that Torstensson’s team will remain unbeaten in their eighth Allsvenskan home game in 2025 is not a foregone conclusion.
Nevertheless, momentum is clearly in favor of the yellow and blacks, who have conceded only four goals in seven Allsvenskan home games and thus boast the strongest home defense in Sweden’s top flight. Bets on under goals are therefore interesting, with the combined double chance bet 1X on under 3.5 goals offering very good value.
Mjällby – Statistics & current form
Mjällby AIF has not come out of nowhere, especially since the team finished fifth in the Allsvenskan last season. However, after their last relegation from the Allsvenskan just nine years ago, the club was playing in the third division, which is why it would be something of a minor football miracle if the yellow and blacks were to win the Swedish national championship for the first time in their history this fall.
At the moment, there are many reasons to believe that this will happen, as coach Anders Torstensson’s team is leading the table with 37 out of a possible 48 points. No other team has won as many games (eleven) and lost as few (only one) as the team from the province of Blekinge, which is also the Allsvenskan’s top scorer with 31 goals and has the third-best defense in Sweden’s top division with only 13 goals conceded. Only Hammarby and Malmö have conceded fewer goals (twelve each).
Has Mjällby just been overperforming so far?
The stars are therefore aligned for Mjällby against AIK Stockholm, with the yellow and blacks now looking to score against one of their biggest rivals, especially as goalkeeper Noel Tornqvist, who has recently been linked with top European clubs, is currently enjoying a sensational season. Based on the expected goals against value, he should have conceded 18.2 goals already. In fact, however, he has only conceded 13, which is due to the 23-year-old having the highest save percentage in the entire Allsvenskan (79.4 percent).
What is particularly striking is that the expected points value, i.e. the value that indicates how many points should have been available from 16 league games based on the xG and xGA values, is just 22.2 xP for Mjällby AIF. In fact, however, the men from the province of Blekinge picked up 37 points – an incredible 14.6 more than expected. This makes it all the more important for the rest of the season that there is no sell-off in the summer transfer window. According to rumors, top scorer Abdoulie Manneh is currently being courted by 1. FSV Mainz 05, for example…

AIK Stockholm – Statistics & current form
Allmänna Idrottsklubben – AIK for short – has been in existence since 1891 and is one of the oldest and most successful clubs in the country. Although the club moved from Stockholm to Solna in 1937 and does not officially have a location in its name, it is still known as AIK Stockholm, even 88 years after the move.
However, it must be said that the traditional club, also known as Gnaget, has slipped somewhat from the forefront since winning the double in autumn 2009. Apart from the 2010 Supercupen, there has only been one other title since then – the twelfth and so far last triumph of the team from the historic province of Uppland in the championship. However, AIK finished the past season in third place.
Will AIK Stockholm knock on the door again with an away win?
Even after 16 matchdays of the 2025 season, Mikkjal Thomassen’s men are still third, but already five points behind today’s hosts. AIK now has a good chance to close this gap. However, the top betting providers are not favoring an away win for the Solna-based team, which lost its last two Allsvenskan away games at Sirius (1-3) and Halmstad (0-2).
Overall, AIK have won only three of their last eight games in Sweden’s top flight (three draws, two defeats), although their defense has been excellent, conceding only 14 goals. That’s an average of just 0.88 goals conceded per league game. In attack, Norwegian Johan Hove stands out as Gnaget’s top scorer with six goals.

Mjällby – AIK Stockholm Head-to-head record
Head to head: 3 – 8 – 12
The head-to-head record in this duel is once again very clear. In the current millennium, Mjällby AIF has won only three of its 21 Allsvenskan matches against AIK Stockholm. Their win rate of just 14 percent is the lowest Mjällby has achieved against any other team in the same period.
Mjällby – AIK Stockholm Tip
All in all, our prediction for the match between Mjällby and AIK Stockholm is that the dazzling newcomers from the province of Blekinge will pick up another point. The yellow and blacks are currently unbeaten in eight league games (six wins, two draws) and, after 16 matchdays, have already built up a four-point lead over second place. In their home stadium in Strandvallen in neighboring Hällevik, Anders Torstensson’s players have not lost a single home game this year (five wins, two draws), which is also due to the fact that they have conceded only four goals at home – the lowest in the league.
The Gnaget, their big rivals, are coming to town. Nevertheless, we believe that Mjällby are currently in too good form for their recent run to come to an end against AIK. As a goal fest is not to be expected, it makes a lot of sense to bet on the combined tip of double chance 1X with under 3.5 goals.
