Will there be plenty of goals in the Principality?

AS Monaco has suffered several setbacks recently. The Rouge et Blanc have now gone four competitive games without a win (three draws, one defeat), slipping to seventh in Ligue 1 after a recent 1-1 draw with second-bottom Angers SCO. In the Champions League, they did manage a comeback against Manchester City (2-2). However, on the first matchday, the Monégasques were crushed 4-1 by FC Bruges. The trend therefore points to an away win for the reigning Europa League winners in Monaco vs. Tottenham.

However, Spurs have had problems away from home recently. The Londoners have won only one of their last seven Champions League away games (two draws, four defeats). We would therefore prefer to avoid making a prediction on the outcome of the Monaco vs. Tottenham match. However, given that both teams know exactly where the opponent’s goal is, betting on over 2.5 goals is a very reasonable alternative.

While AS Monaco has already scored 17 goals in eight Ligue 1 games, Tottenham Hotspur has scored 14 goals in eight Premier League games. Added to this is the Monégasques’ defensive vulnerability. They have conceded 13 goals in the league and six in two Champions League games. This makes the odds for goals on both sides in Monaco vs. Tottenham, which are set at 1.57 in the Bet365 app, an attractive proposition.

Monaco vs. Tottenham AI prediction

Monaco vs. Tottenham: the AI prediction is clear. The AI recommends an away win for Spurs, which is priced at 2.38 on Betway. This implies a 42 percent probability of occurrence. The AI, on the other hand, calculates that the Lilywhites have a 43 percent chance of winning, which means that there is a positive expected value here.

Monaco – Statistics & current form

AS Monaco has only been able to confirm its third place in the final table of the 2024/25 season to a limited extent so far in the new season. The Rouge et Blanc have gone four competitive games without a win (three draws, one defeat) and recently suffered embarrassing defeats against relegation candidates Lorient (1-3) and Angers (1-1), leaving them currently in seventh place.

Nevertheless, Monaco’s record against Tottenham speaks in favor of tip 1. At home in the UEFA Champions League, they have only lost one of eight games against English clubs (five wins, two draws). However, that defeat came against a team from North London (0-2 against Arsenal in March 2015). Against Spurs, on the other hand, ASM remain unbeaten in two home games (one win, one draw).

Monaco with poor home record and defensive problems

Nevertheless, the Monégasques’ home record is not too rosy. The team from the principality has only three wins in its last 13 home games in the Champions League (nine defeats, one draw). Still, Monaco came back from behind twice against Manchester City on matchday two to earn a 2-2 draw, which they will now look to build on after their 4-1 defeat in Bruges on matchday one.

To do so, however, Sébastien Pocognoli, who recently succeeded Adi Hütter, will have to work on his team’s defense. Not only have they conceded 13 goals in Ligue 1, scoring 17, but ASM have also conceded at least two goals in three consecutive Champions League games. That could quickly prove fatal for the Rouge et Blanc against Spurs…

Tottenham – Statistics & current form

With their victory in the Europa League, Tottenham Hotspur salvaged a botched season this summer and qualified for the Champions League, where they got off to a solid start with four out of a possible six points. However, their opening win against Villarreal (1-0) was followed by a rather sobering 2-2 draw at Bodö/Glimt.

In general, the Lilywhites’ away form in the Champions League leaves a lot to be desired. They have won only one of their last seven Champions League away games (two draws, four defeats). Nevertheless, a small milestone beckons on the sidelines: Thomas Frank could become the first Spurs coach to go unbeaten in his first three Champions League games. In the club’s history, only Mauricio Pochettino managed to start a competition unbeaten in the first three games in 2017/18 (two wins, one draw).

Tottenham are not always solid defensively either

At least the individual form arrow is pointing upwards: Mohammed Kudus made five successful dribbles in just 30 minutes against Bodö/Glimt – as many as the rest of the Spurs in that game; at the same time, the best record for a Tottenham substitute in a Champions League game. Meanwhile, Pedro Porro provided the first assist in the 2-2 draw and has created the most chances (four) and played the most line-breaking passes (18) for Tottenham in this Champions League season.

If the defense, which has conceded a total of six goals in the last four competitive games, can keep a clean sheet again, the tip suggested by AI lady BETSiE for an away win for the North Londoners could well come true, although in our opinion the odds for Monaco vs. Tottenham are a little too low to offer sufficient value.

Monaco – Tottenham Head-to-head record

Head to head: 2 – 1 – 1

Four international competitive matches have been played between the two teams so far, and after Tottenham Hotspur picked up four out of a possible six points against AS Monaco in the 2015/16 Europa League group stage, the subsequent two matches went to the team from the principality. The Rouge et Blanc beat the Lilywhites 2–1 both at home and away in the 2016/17 Champions League group stage

Monaco – Tottenham Tip

Although the betting odds from the top bookmakers favor the visitors in Monaco vs. Tottenham, we would also agree with their role as favorites in the principality. Unlike the AI, however, we do not see any value in tip 2. After all, the Londoners have won only one of their last seven Champions League away games (two draws, four defeats) and have also remained winless in their only two away games at Stade Louis II so far (one draw, one defeat). Despite the Rouge et Blanc’s not-so-good form, it will therefore not be a walk in the park for the Spurs.

We are therefore avoiding the three-way system and recommending a prediction of over 2.5 goals in Monaco vs. Tottenham. Not only would this tip have been successful in the last three direct duels between the two teams, but it also fits with the offensive orientation and previous results of both teams in their national leagues.

Bet365 is offering odds of 1.57 for at least three goals in the principality, which we are betting on with six out of ten units.
