Will the Elftal maintain their lead in the table?
There have been few surprises so far in Group G of the European World Cup qualifiers. The Netherlands leads the group and currently has a three-point lead over its two pursuers, Poland and Finland. The Elftal, which has been among the top eight nations in three of the last four World Cups but missed out on the 2018 finals in Russia, is thus striding toward a direct ticket to the big tournament. However, if the tip for an away win for the Huuhkajat against Finland comes true, everything would suddenly be up for grabs again – especially if Poland also scores the expected away win in Lithuania at the same time.
However, the Elftal have it entirely in their own hands in front of their home crowd in Amsterdam. A home win would see them shake off their closest rivals for good, especially as the Oranje already won the first leg in Helsinki 2-0. In their last home game in Group G so far, however, the Dutch missed out on victory against Poland (1-1). We would not rule out a similarly close result this time around. The tip that goals will be scored, but no more than three, is very popular.
The Dutch warmed up against Malta on Thursday evening and celebrated a 4-0 away win in Ta’ Qali. However, the whole truth is that two goals were scored from penalties, while the fourth goal came in injury time (90+3). The Finns are also much better defensively.
A very interesting alternative is therefore to bet that the Elftal will score a maximum of three goals – regardless of the outcome of the match. In case of doubt, a result such as 0-0 or 1-1 would ultimately mean that the Oranje would defend their lead in the table. For under 3.5 Oranje goals, odds of 1.60 are available at Interwetten for Netherlands vs. Finland.
Netherlands – Finland Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
Head to head: 12 – 2 – 1
A total of 15 international matches have been played between the two nations so far, and apart from a Finnish victory in a friendly match dating back to 1950, Finland has never won a game against the Netherlands. The Elftal are currently unbeaten in twelve meetings with the Huuhkajat (ten wins, two draws) and also won the first leg in Helsinki on June 7, 2025, 2–0.

Netherlands – Finland Tip
The betting odds for Netherlands vs. Finland are too heavily in favor of the Elftal for the three-way system to be worthwhile in this match. However, it should be noted that the Oranje do not necessarily need a home win. Even with a draw, Ronald Koeman’s men would continue to defend their lead in the table. After all, the Dutch cannot afford a defeat in Poland in mid-November.
The Finns, on the other hand, need an away win to keep their slim chances of qualifying for the World Cup alive, but they are not really an attacking team by nature. Instead, we expect to see a very organized defensive formation with a back five, which is why the prediction of a low-scoring match between the Netherlands and Finland seems very reasonable.
However, as we don’t really expect a 0-0 draw, we are betting four out of ten units at Bet365 at odds of 1.87 that either one, two, or three goals will be scored.
