Hosts rely on Lewandowski
Robert Lewandowski has prevailed! After his retirement from the Polish national team and his condition that he would no longer play under Michal Probierz, the latter promptly resigned and handed the job over to Jan Urban.
Even though the home team’s squad is better off again thanks to the comeback of the Barcelona striker, it will not be a walk in the park for the home team. One reason is the timing of the match. The Poles already had to face the top team in Group G, the Netherlands, last Thursday.
The battle with the “Oranje” ended in a 1-1 draw and naturally took a lot of energy, while the players from the far north had a break. In addition, the Finns have performed well in World Cup qualifying so far, even beating the Polish team 2-1! For the latest match between Poland and Finland, the prediction is that there will be goals at both ends once again.
Furthermore, we believe Benjamin Kallman will score for the visitors. The striker is in top form and has scored in three of four games in the 2nd Bundesliga for the current league leaders from Hanover! A great record, especially considering that he only came off the bench in all of those games.
This is a role that he is unlikely to play in the Finnish team, and Kallmann was also on hand to score in the aforementioned victory against Poland.
Poland – Finland Head-to-head record
As mentioned at the beginning, the Finns won their last match against Poland. They beat the Polish team 2-1 in front of their own fans in June this year. Thanks to this victory, Finland ended a 19-year drought without a win against the “Biało-Czerwoni” (0-2-3).
For the upcoming match, however, the Poland vs. Finland odds are once again in favor of the home team.
Poland – Finland Tip
The hosts are counting on the return of Robert Lewandowski in this match. The striker is expected to revive the currently harmless offense. However, he remained lackluster in his comeback last Thursday against the Netherlands. Furthermore, we do not consider the visitors to be without a chance.
The first match in the current World Cup qualifiers ended in a Finnish victory, and the offense in particular is well positioned. One example is Joel Pohjanpalo, who won the scoring title in Italy’s Serie B in 2024 while playing for Palermo and has also played for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga during his career.
In the World Cup qualifiers, he has a 50% goal ratio after four appearances and is supported by Benjamin Kallman, a striker in good form who is currently playing as a “goal scorer” in Hannover in the German second division. Due to the additional match against the “Oranje,” the hosts also have a physical disadvantage.
We are therefore opting for betting odds on both sides scoring in the match between Poland and Finland. This was also the case in the Finns’ recent 2-1 victory over the Eastern Europeans.
