Can TSG keep the Red Bulls at bay?
With 50 points from the first 26 matchdays, TSG Hoffenheim is having its best Bundesliga season ever. Against this backdrop, there is currently a strong case for Champions League qualification. After all, in the last five seasons, a total of 14 teams had reached the 50-point mark after 26 matchdays. All 14 made it into the Champions League.
However, if RB Leipzig beats Hoffenheim at home, the Red Bulls would tie the Kraichgauers in points and make the race for Champions League spots—in which Stuttgart and Leverkusen also have a say—truly exciting again.
For TSG, the top priority at the Red Bull Arena is to avoid an away loss. In the RB Leipzig vs. Hoffenheim matchup, the odds suggest that the Sinsheim side will succeed, and the outlook isn’t all that bleak. After all, Ilzer’s team is the third-best away side in the Bundesliga and has lost only two of their 13 league games on the road (seven wins, four draws). We expect the Blue-Whites to play it safe in this away match, which, in our view, increases the value of betting on a Friday night game that won’t be overly high-scoring. We recommend betting on under 3.5 goals.
In any case, it’s clear that both coaches have a full squad to draw from, as managing player workload isn’t really an issue without international commitments. This is also evident in the starting lineups. TSG has made only three changes to its starting eleven over the last four matchdays. At RBL, there were even fewer—just two. As a result, two well-drilled teams will face off on Friday night, both of which know exactly how to play defensively. We expect a close result, though Hoffenheim’s strong away form certainly tempts us to consider a handicap bet on the visitors.
RB Leipzig vs. Hoffenheim AI Prediction
While we would advise caution from a human perspective, the AI prediction for RB Leipzig vs. Hoffenheim clearly points to a home win for the Red Bulls. Since the AI calculates a 57.5 percent chance for the Saxons to secure a home win against Hoffenheim, this results in a highly positive expected value from the AI’s perspective.
RB Leipzig – Statistics & Current Form
After a recent run of mixed results—RB Leipzig has won only two of its last six competitive matches (two draws, two losses)—every point counts for Ole Werner’s team now. If the prediction of a home win for the Red Bulls in the RB Leipzig vs. Hoffenheim match doesn’t pan out, it would be a significant setback in the battle for one of the coveted Champions League spots.
The record certainly favors the Saxons, who have lost only one of eleven home games against the Sinsheim side. In fact, they have won all of their last five competitive home matches. Leipzig currently boasts a longer winning streak at home only against FC Augsburg. Speaking of FCA: Their most recent Bundesliga home match, against the Fuggerstadt side, was also won 2-1. Despite this victory, however, their overall home record remains mixed. With 26 points from 13 home games, RBL has only finished below this mark in two previous seasons. At the same time, 18 goals conceded at home represent a club low for this stage of the season.
RB Leipzig rarely concede from set pieces
Things are currently not going well at all for the two-time cup winners in Friday matches. They have lost two of their last three games, and for the first time in Bundesliga history, the team has gone three consecutive Fridays without a win. At least RB Leipzig has remained unbeaten in home games on this day of the week so far.
What stands out, however, is their defensive stability on set pieces. The Red Bulls have conceded only 17 percent of their goals from set pieces—the best record in the league! At the same time, Ole Werner’s team is among the most intense in the league, averaging 176 sprints per game.

Hoffenheim – Stats & Current Form
With 50 points after 26 matchdays, TSG Hoffenheim is having its best Bundesliga season. Offensively, the team has already scored 54 goals, surpassing almost all previous seasons at this point. However, their form has shown slight fluctuations recently. They have won only one of their last four Bundesliga matches, even though all four opponents—Cologne (2-2), St. Pauli (0-1), Heidenheim (4-2), and Wolfsburg (1-1)—were relegation candidates.
Nevertheless, Christian Ilzer’s squad remains third in the table and, as things stand, would qualify for the UEFA Champions League. While the AI model BETSiE predicts a home win for Leipzig, the Opta supercomputer currently calculates a 61.9 percent chance that the Blue-Whites will finish the 2025/26 season either in third place (36.2 percent) or at least in fourth place (25.7 percent).
Hoffenheim Struggles Against the “Big Five”
The problem, however, is that the Sinsheim-based team has generally struggled against the league’s top teams. When facing a club from the league’s top 5, the Baden-Württemberg side earned only four points, lost three of those matches, and conceded a hefty twelve goals—which in turn justifies the odds against an away win for Ilzer’s squad in the RB Leipzig vs. Hoffenheim match.
However, such a victory could once again come down to physicality. Physically, Hoffenheim is one of the most intense teams in the league. With 179 sprints per game and a running distance of 123.3 kilometers per match, TSG leads the league in both categories. However, no team has conceded a higher proportion of goals from set pieces than Hoffenheim, at 50 percent.

RB Leipzig – Hoffenheim Head-to-Head Record
Head to Head: 12 – 4 – 5
The two teams have faced each other 21 times so far, and with twelve wins, RB Leipzig leads the head-to-head record by a wide margin. However, in two of the last three Bundesliga clashes, the Red Bulls were defeated by TSG Hoffenheim, a result of the fact that the home team has always triumphed in the last three encounters. The first leg in Kraichgau on November 8, 2025, ended 3-1 in favor of the Sinsheim side.
RB Leipzig – Hoffenheim Prediction
While AI assumes that the Saxons will win this crucial home game and make the race for Champions League spots truly exciting again, we would definitely refrain from making a prediction on the outcome of the match between RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim.
Too much can happen in this match, especially since both teams, despite all the good results of the 2025/26 season, have increasingly had subpar days and delivered questionable performances, particularly in recent weeks.
It is clear that neither team can afford to approach the match with an overly open strategy. Nothing less than a Champions League spot is at stake, and losing a point would simultaneously mean a point gained for one of the direct competitors vying for the two starting spots behind Bayern and Dortmund. Consequently, both teams are likely to focus primarily on avoiding mistakes, which is why—contrary to the top bookmakers’ predictions—we do not expect a goal fest at the Red Bull Arena.
