Will the Barca women flex their muscles again?

FC Barcelona is currently the dominant force in international women’s soccer. In three of the past five seasons, the Blaugrana have secured the Champions League title, while their dominance at the national level has long since reached even greater heights. In the current Spanish season, the Barca women lead the standings with 22 wins out of 23 matches. Their goal difference stands at 103-6! They hold a comfortable 10-point lead over their archrivals from the capital, who now get another chance to take on the league leaders in the UWCL quarterfinals. Ahead of the first leg between Real Madrid and Barcelona Women, however, betting on the visitors seems like a mere formality.

Although the “Blancas” are in very good form, having won all of their last seven competitive matches, their most recent defeat came in early February against none other than their upcoming opponent. In the Spanish Cup, Real Madrid lost 0-4 at home to the Barca women.

Apart from that, the Madrid women also had the weaker league run. They earned 11 points from six matches with a 13-7 goal difference. By comparison, Barca remained undefeated (5-1-0), consequently taking first place and boasting both the most dangerous attack (20 goals) and the most solid defense of all participating clubs. For the first leg of Real Madrid vs. Barcelona Women taking place Wednesday evening at the Alfredo di Stefano, the prediction must, in my opinion, inevitably favor last year’s finalists.

A logical approach, for example, would be to bet on the Real Madrid vs. Barcelona Women odds with a (-1.5) handicap in favor of the visitors. All 33 wins celebrated by the star-studded squad led by Alexia Putellas, Eva Pajor, and co. across all competitions this season came by a margin of at least two goals.

Real Madrid – Barcelona Head-to-Head Record

There have been three meetings this season between the two rival clubs. Barcelona won all three matches. The first leg in the league ended 4-0 in favor of Barça Femení; in the Super Cup, the league leaders prevailed 2-0; and, as mentioned earlier, the cup match just under two months ago also ended decisively in favor of the Blaugrana (4-0). Three games, three wins, and a 10-0 goal difference. So the Barca women have already flexed their muscles against Spain’s second-best team in 2025/26. I consider it extremely unlikely that this will change in the most important competition, the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Real Madrid – Barcelona Women Prediction

The quarterfinals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League bring some intense rivalries. Lyon faces its longtime rival Wolfsburg, Arsenal and Chelsea clash in the London derby, and the women’s Clásico between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona’s women’s team is sure to be explosive! On the field, however, it’s a world of difference. Barca leads the league standings by ten points, has scored nearly five goals per game in 23 matches, holds a ten-point lead over the Madrid women, and has conceded just six goals. Romeu’s team also dominated at will during the UWCL group stage!

Considering that Putellas and Co. have won all three head-to-head matches this season with an average of over three goals per game and kept a clean sheet in all three, I see no alternative but to bet once again on what is likely the best women’s soccer team in Europe. My Real Madrid vs. Barcelona Women’s tip is therefore on the handicap (-1.5).
