Who will be the next to stumble in the title race?

There are 13 matchdays left in La Liga. It could remain exciting at the top of the table until the final whistle of the last round of matches. In the Real Madrid vs. Getafe tip, Los Blancos will be looking to avoid a repeat of last weekend’s slip-up (1-2 vs. Osasuna).

This task is fraught with obstacles in our Real Madrid vs. Getafe prediction – all of them set by one of the best defenses in the Spanish top flight. Jose Bordalas has been coaching the Azulones since 2023 – since then, no team has really enjoyed playing against Getafe.

The reason for this can be found in the blue and whites’ style of play – which can be taken as praise for their excellent defensive structure. Nevertheless, there is a clear gap between the Real Madrid and Getafe odds for a win among betting providers.

We would advise against using a sports betting bonus for a winner in this matchup. Bordalas’s team has already annoyed the other clubs in the Spanish top flight too much this season. Previous matches against the Azulones have already been difficult for the Madrilenians.

At least the home side need not fear the offense of the thirteenth-placed team. Across the league, only Real Oviedo have scored fewer goals (16 this season) than Getafe (20 this season). In terms of expected goals, the visitors are actually bottom of the La Liga table (18.71 xG).

Real Madrid – Getafe Head-to-head record

In the first leg, the Royals needed two red cards from Getafe to finally get the space they wanted. Kylian Mbappe took advantage of a moment of carelessness and converted a shot from a central position in the 80th minute to secure a 1-0 victory.

For the White Ballet from Madrid, it was their fourth consecutive clean sheet victory against the Azulones. It was never comfortable – all four matches ended with “under 2.5 goals” and demanded patience and seriousness from the Galacticos until the last second.

Real Madrid – Getafe Tip

Jose Bordalas is not a dogmatic coach who insists on a defensive style of play without adjustments in every match. He has skillfully prepared his players for a wide variety of situations, building a system that allows Getafe to force the second-most pressing sequences in La Liga (346) despite averaging 11.2 passes per defensive action.

Whenever possible, the Azulones push up compactly with their defensive line, which is generally positioned relatively high (43.3m). In such moments, they like to resort to man-to-man pressing. Again, there are periods when a more wait-and-see zone defense is used.

This flexibility makes the visitors one of the most difficult opponents in the Spanish top flight – even if their attack rarely poses a threat. We therefore do not expect Bordalas’s team to score against the most successful defense in the Spanish top flight (Real Madrid: 21 goals conceded).
