Will St. Gallen fuel Geneva’s disastrous start?
Servette Geneva has been playing competitive matches for less than three weeks, and yet the mood in coach Thomas Häberli’s team has already reached a temporary low point. Not only did the Grenats botch their Super League season opener with a 1-3 defeat at Young Boys in Bern, but they also threw away their chance to advance in the Champions League qualifiers rather carelessly.
Despite a 1-0 away win in the first leg at Viktoria Pilsen and a 1-0 lead in the second leg in front of their home crowd, Les Grenats were eliminated after a 1-3 defeat against the Czech club and must now continue their international adventure in the Europa League. To avoid a complete false start and nip any initial discussions in the bud, it would be helpful for the hosts if a bet on a home win between Servette Geneva and St. Gallen on Saturday afternoon paid off.
However, the home game against FC St. Gallen is likely to be an unpleasant one. After all, coach Enrico Maaßen’s team started the new season with a 2-1 win against the reigning double winners from Basel. Espen will not have to contend with any double burdens in 2025/26, so there are certainly good arguments for betting on a good result for the Green and Whites ahead of the clash between Servette Geneva and St. Gallen. However, it should also be borne in mind that the eastern Swiss side failed to pick up a single point away from home last season. They managed four wins in 17 away games. FCSG has not won an away game in the Super League since the beginning of February.
Servette Geneva – St. Gallen Head-to-head record
In Switzerland, it is common for clubs to face each other at least three times during the course of a season. Looking back at the past three seasons alone, there have been eleven league encounters between the two sides. Servette FC has the edge with three wins and two defeats. However, the majority of the matches (six) ended in a draw.
Even more interesting: in none of these eleven matches were more than three goals scored. Ten times, the under 2.5 would have been correct, which once again finds its way into my top tip table at an astonishingly high odds of 2.60 (@Interwetten).

Servette Geneva – St. Gallen Tip
After their bitter elimination from the Champions League qualifiers and defeat in their SL opener in Bern, Servette Geneva are already under pressure on the second matchday. Another defeat would make for a perfect start to the season. However, the home side can take heart from the fact that FCSG are not particularly good away from home. The Espen’s last away win came at the beginning of February. Nevertheless, Maaßen’s side gained a lot of confidence with a 2-1 win against double winners FC Basel on the opening day. This is one of the reasons why I am inclined to include Servette Geneva vs. St. Gallen odds on my betting slip, with the Green-Whites picking up a point.
However, an even more attractive bet is that spectators at the Stade de Genève will see a low-scoring game. On the one hand, ten of the last eleven direct encounters have seen a maximum of two goals. On the other hand, the home side are still too harmless in attack, especially after the departure of Dereck Kutesa in the summer. The same applies to Espen away from home. Under 3 goals offers a suitable compromise as an Asian bet, covering many eventualities at top odds of 1.94.
