Are the Andalusians sliding into a false start?

Sevilla FC finished the 2024/25 season just one measly point above the relegation zone. The Rojiblancos – record winners of the Europa League with seven titles, five of which came between 2014 and 2023 – are still a shadow of their former selves and also started 2025/26 with a defeat (2-3 at Athletic Bilbao). If Sevilla fail to beat Getafe, the Nervionenses’ prediction will not come true and the traditional club, under new coach Matías Almeyda, will promptly slide into another false start.

Getafe CF, which, curiously, will not play its first home game until the fourth matchday, has gotten off to a strong start with a 2-0 win at Celta Vigo. The players from the Madrid suburbs had a taste of European competition last season, but threw it away in spectacular fashion at the end of the season, losing seven of their last eight games. Nevertheless, the Azulones have the potential to pick up points in Andalusia, which is why we see a lot of value in the combined bet on double chance X2 with under 3.5 goals.

After all, a goal fest at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán is not to be expected. Both teams are fundamentally compact defensively, but tend to struggle in attack. In the last three meetings between the two teams in La Liga, there has always been a maximum of one goal. The last duel even ended 0-0. In none of the five league games between the two opponents have both sides scored, which is why betting on a maximum of one team scoring this time around is a sensible alternative.

Sevilla – Getafe Head-to-head record / H2H record

Head to head: 23 – 8 – 15

A total of 46 matches have been played between the two teams so far, with Sevilla FC leading the head-to-head record by a clear margin with 23 wins. The Rojiblancos are currently unbeaten in four matches against Getafe CF (three wins, one draw), but were held to a 0-0 draw by the Azulones in their last match on February 1, 2025. The Nervionenses also lost their penultimate home game against the Madrid suburbs in La Liga by a resounding 0-3.

Sevilla – Getafe Tip

Last season, Getafe CF were in contention for a European place for much of the season, but they squandered their advantage by picking up just three points from a possible 24 in their last eight games. However, following the Azulones’ 2-0 opening win at Celta Vigo, this slump in form seems to be a thing of the past, which is why our prediction for Sevilla vs. Getafe is leaning towards the visitors from the Madrid suburbs. The record Europa League winners from Andalusia, who only narrowly avoided relegation to La Liga 2 this summer, have once again started the new season with a defeat and picked up just 24 points at home last season – only the three relegated teams picked up fewer points at home.

A goal fest is not to be expected at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, especially since the last three meetings between the two teams in La Liga saw only two goals in total – and never more than one goal per game, with the last encounter even ending 0-0. The match combo on double chance X2 with under 3.5 goals, available in the handy Betano app, therefore offers great value.

The betting odds for Sevilla vs. Getafe are 1.90, which we are betting four out of ten units on.
