Will the Andalusians confirm their recent resurgence?
After the reeling Europa League record winners started the 2025/26 season with two defeats under new coach Matias Almeyda, it looked as if the new season would bring the same old problems for Sevilla FC. However, the Nervionenses managed to turn things around, picking up seven out of a possible nine points from their last three games. If Sevilla can now beat Villarreal, the Blanquirrojos’ prediction of a point would be confirmed, finally confirming the upward trend.
The Champions League participants from the east coast of Spain have also been able to confirm their strong form from last season. The Yellow Submarine (Spanish: submarino amarillo) has picked up ten out of a possible 15 points and is currently third in the table. With ten goals scored, Villarreal also has the second-best offense in La Liga. However, Sevilla has also scored nine goals.
