Will the Swiss national team dominate in Slovenia too?

If you look at the probability calculators these days, the Swiss national team has virtually secured its ticket to the 2026 World Cup. With a probability of 98.2%, Coach Yakin’s team will clinch victory in Group B. Although there are still three match days to go, the world number 17 has earned its outstanding position. Three games, three wins, nine points, and no goals conceded so far add up to a flawless record.

Because Kosovo, currently in second place, has a tough away game in Sweden at the same time, the Swiss national team could secure its place in the World Cup as early as Monday evening. That is, if Kosovo does not win and a bet on an away win for the visitors in the match between Slovenia and Switzerland pays off!

The Swiss are in truly remarkable form, which Xhaka and Co. have maintained throughout the entire 2025 calendar year, and this bodes well for a three-point haul. Including four friendly matches, among them against World Cup hosts USA and Mexico, the Central Europeans have won six of seven international matches since the beginning of the year.

The European Championship quarterfinalists, who were only defeated in the continental finals on penalties by eventual finalists England, have performed particularly well offensively in recent months. In six of the seven international matches mentioned in 2025, Embolo and Co. scored at least twice, and in five cases at least three times. Statistically, therefore, a Slovenia vs. Switzerland prediction of over 1.5 goals for the Swiss is absolutely justified. You can place a corresponding bet in the Interwetten app at an attractive maximum odds of 1.80.

However, the Slovenians should not be underestimated, as they have only lost the first leg in Switzerland so far. They drew against Kosovo and Sweden. The chance of finishing second in the final standings and thus qualifying for the World Cup playoffs is therefore still alive.

However, this will require improved offensive performance. In four of seven international matches in the 2025 calendar year, the European Championship quarter-finalists failed to score a single goal. In two of three qualifying matches alone, they failed to score. This makes it all the more interesting to check the odds for Slovenia and Switzerland to remain scoreless. Betano offers 2.20 as the top odds for this and also entices with a €20 free bet from Betano. Alternatively, you can bet on a Swiss away win at 1.72 in the Bwin app without any additional conditions.

Slovenia – Switzerland Head-to-head comparison / H2H record

There have been a total of ten encounters between these teams in the statistics. The Swiss lead the head-to-head with seven wins. The Slovenians have celebrated two victories to date, while only one match ended in a draw. Five of the ten matches were World Cup qualifiers. Here too, the Swiss national team has the upper hand with three wins. Interestingly, all three victories were clean sheets, including the 3-0 win in the first leg at St. Jakob Park in Basel, which was already decided after the first half. Elvedi, Embolo, and Ndoye all scored before the break, giving the Swiss a well-deserved home victory.

Slovenia – Switzerland Tip

In Group B, the Swiss national team is alone at the top of the table after three of six matchdays. With a maximum haul of nine points and zero goals conceded, the road to next year’s World Cup seems to be a mere formality. In fact, an away win on Monday evening could be enough to secure a ticket to the 2026 finals. Considering their strong performances in the 2025 calendar year – six wins and one draw in seven international matches – Yakin’s team is, in my opinion, the deserved favorite. This is reflected in the Slovenia vs. Switzerland betting odds of 1.72 for a win by the visitors.

Although Slovenia is no pushover and is a particularly difficult opponent at home, the confidence, momentum, and individual quality of the “Nati,” which has scored a whopping 21 goals in seven international matches since the start of the year, speaks for itself. The Slovenians, meanwhile, really need to play for a win to significantly improve their chances in the group. That should also play into the hands of the European Championship quarter-finalists, so I recommend betting on at least two Swiss goals in Slovenia. I’m betting 1.80 with five out of a possible ten fictitious units.
