Will Getafe secure their third away win in a row?
Friday evening sees the third matchday of the Spanish La Liga. Valencia will face Getafe in the opening match, and the tip on the hosts is rewarded with odds of up to 2.15 in the best sports betting apps. Last season, the performance of both teams was very mixed.
They finished the season in twelfth and thirteenth place, in the lower mid-table. The visitors saved themselves with a two-point lead over the relegation zone. But for one of the two opponents, things are going much better this year – at least at the beginning.
Getafe have made a dazzling start. With two wins and maximum points, head coach Jose Bordalas’ team is in an excellent fourth place. Five teams are still undefeated in Spain’s top flight. The schedule is not particularly kind to the Azulones.
The team has to play three consecutive away games at the start of the season. This makes their performance so far all the more impressive. On Friday, however, the visitors will initially be the underdogs.
The home side have less to be happy about with their start to the season. With one draw and one defeat, the Black and Whites have only one point to their name. That is currently only enough for 14th place, and hopes are pinned on the upcoming home game to finally secure their first three points. But the negative run is getting longer and longer. Coach Carlos Corberan’s team has now gone five games without a win across two seasons. Their last victory came at the beginning of May.
Valencia – Getafe Head-to-head record
The two teams have met 40 times in La Liga. The record favors the hosts, who have won 19 of these duels and lost only 12 times. Across all competitions, the overall record stands at 21-10-14. Getafe has been waiting for a win against its opponent for three games. Last season, there was a heavy 0-3 defeat in Valencia.
There has been little to cheer about at the Estadio de Mestalla recently. The visitors have failed to win any of their last eight competitive games in Valencia. In the last five meetings, only once have there been more than 2.5 goals scored. Three of these matches ended 1-0 for the respective home team. There has not been an away win in 15 games between the two teams.

Valencia – Getafe Tip
The Blanquinegros are currently struggling in attack. They have only managed to beat the opposing goalkeeper once. While the statistics against Real Sociedad still show an xG value of over two, in the second game, with an xG value of 0.4, there was not much goal threat to be seen. This means that the hosts are continuing their disappointing run of pre-season games, of which they have won only one. The Corberan XI’s form is currently pointing in the wrong direction, at least.
Getafe have had a dream start. Two away wins at the start of the season and four goals scored are cause for satisfaction. Only two teams have scored more often than the Blues. The defense has also been very solid so far. They have only had to fish the ball out of their own net once. Coach Bordalas does not place much emphasis on ball control. An average of only 30% possession shows that the ball is left to the opponent.
We are a little surprised by the hosts’ clear favoritism. The black and whites have not been particularly convincing so far and are still waiting for their first win. On the other hand, momentum is on the side of the Azulones, who have started with two away wins. Therefore, our recommendation for the Valencia vs. Getafe game, at odds of 1.65 at the tested bookmaker Oddset, is to bet on the double chance X/2.
Two away wins and high effectiveness. So why not take a little more risk and go for high odds? The visitors’ offense is currently working well. That’s why we’re placing a small bet on a Getafe win in the Valencia vs. Getafe match, at odds of 4.20.
