Who will win this top match?
Looking at the table, the hosts seem to have the slightly better chances of winning, as they currently lead the Eliteserien, while the visitors are only in fourth place.
However, the Viking Stavanger vs. Bodö/Glimt odds from German bookmakers still favor a home win. This is probably due to the fact that the visiting team is the reigning champion and the individual quality is simply higher. But how realistic is an away win really?
We will answer this question at the end of our Viking Stavanger vs. Bodö/Glimt prediction. But first, we’ll take a closer look at both teams, starting with their home and away records. Contrary to the odds and the distribution of roles, this point goes quite clearly to the home team.
VFK has not lost a single game in its own stadium and has already collected 20 points in eight home games. In comparison, the visitors have won only three of their six away games, remaining winless in 50% of their matches. This could be one of the reasons why Oddset is offering us maximum odds of 2.35 for an away win.
In terms of form, however, Kjetil Knutsen’s team can catch up a little, as the visitors have gained a lot of confidence with two wins in a row. In addition, the home side have lost their last two competitive games and are therefore in a bit of a slump.
Viking Stavanger – Statistics & current form
Viking can be very satisfied with their season so far. Morten Jensen’s team has picked up 36 points from 16 games and is currently top of the Eliteserien table. In addition, VFK currently has six points more than the second-placed team from Bergen and thus a comfortable lead on paper. In reality, however, the situation is different, as three clubs – Bodö/Glimt, Tromsö IL and Brann Bergen – still have games in hand and could therefore significantly reduce the gap.
For this reason alone, a win against one of their three direct rivals this coming weekend would be extremely important. Another defeat would make it realistic that Stavanger could lose their lead in the table in the near future.
Viking Stavanger is almost impossible to defend against for 90 minutes
With 40 goals in 16 league games (⌀ 2.50), the home side has by far the best attack in the Eliteserien. By comparison, the second-best attack in Norway’s top flight has scored just 28 goals. In addition, Morten Jensen’s team has failed to score in only two games in all competitions, finding the back of the net in 91% of their competitive matches.
At home, however, the rate is slightly worse at “only” 88%. One player stands out in particular in Viking Stavanger’s offense, and that is Zlatko Tripic. The 32-year-old midfielder has 14 points in the league alone, making him the top scorer in the Norwegian top flight. He will of course be the focus of attention against Bodö/Glimt.
Viking Stavanger with slight problems in defense
Offensively, things are going almost perfectly for Morten Jensen’s team, but how are they doing in defense? Stavanger definitely has room for improvement here, as the hosts are only eighth in the league with 20 goals conceded in 16 games (⌀ 1.25). In addition, the home side has conceded at least one goal in 11 of its 16 league games, meaning it has had to pick the ball out of its own net in 69% of its matches.
At home, however, the rate is slightly better at only 63%. So it’s not as if “De mørkeblå” have a serious weakness here, but rather a case of nitpicking at a high level. Before the game against Bodö/Glimt, however, this is necessary, as the visitors have the most valuable squad in the Norwegian top flight.
Bodö/Glimt – Statistics & current form
Bodö/Glimt cannot be entirely satisfied with their season so far. Kjetil Knutsen’s team has picked up “only” 26 points from its first 13 league games and is currently in fourth place. However, that sounds worse than it actually is, as the three games in hand could see the visitors jump to second place and reduce the gap to Viking Stavanger to just one point.
With a win in the head-to-head match, the reigning Norwegian champions could even overtake them and take the lead in the table. In theory, that sounds very simple, but in practice, the visitors have to win the four games first. That won’t be easy, as the team from Bodö lost the last match against VFK 2-4 (May 28, 2025).
Bodö/Glimt with plenty of offensive power
With 28 goals in 13 league games (⌀ 2.15), the visitors are not quite as good as the home side, but they are still capable of posing a threat to any opponent. Viking Stavanger is also the only team that has scored more often than Bodö/Glimt. In addition, Kjetil Knutsen’s team has not failed to score in a single game in the Norwegian top flight.
Even across all competitions, the visitors have only failed to score twice, finding the back of the net in 92% of their games. One of the two goalless draws came in the Europa League semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur and was entirely understandable given the difference in class. The English side simply play at a completely different level.
Bodö/Glimt are also very solid defensively
Kjetil Knutsen’s team is also doing an excellent job defensively, conceding only eleven goals in 13 games (⌀ 0.85). This means that the visitors not only have the second-best offense in the Eliteserien, but also the best defense. For us, this is of course one of the reasons why defending the title remains an absolutely realistic goal.
In addition, the visiting team has kept a clean sheet eight times, conceding a goal in only 38% of their league games. That is, of course, an incredibly good record and an important factor ahead of the match against Viking. Away from home, however, the rate is only 50%, which is significantly higher. We therefore consider a clean sheet against the best attack in the Norwegian top flight to be rather unlikely.
Viking Stavanger – Bodö/Glimt Head-to-head record / H2H record
In the first two sections of our analysis, we were unable to identify a clear favorite, but what does a look at the head-to-head record tell us? The H2H comparison is only of limited help here, as while the home side has won 24 of the 58 encounters, the visitors have emerged victorious on 21 occasions.
So, this lead is not clear-cut. This will also be one of the reasons why the Viking Stavanger vs. Bodö/Glimt betting odds are relatively even. The away team is therefore favored primarily due to their higher individual quality. A win bet therefore seems quite risky. But what is our alternative?
Viking Stavanger – Bodö/Glimt Tip
We recommend the Viking Stavanger vs. Bodö/Glimt betting tip for “both teams to score – yes” in conjunction with over 2.5 goals in the game. Both teams are so strong offensively that they rarely fail to score. In addition, the last match between these two teams ended in a 4-2 win for the home side.
Furthermore, both clubs have scored in five of their last six encounters. So there are a number of factors pointing to a high-scoring game ahead. We consider a win bet to be very risky due to all the factors mentioned. In our opinion, the game could go either way.
However, we tend to expect the away team to pick up a point. This is mainly because the reigning champions have been in good form in recent weeks and also have significantly higher individual quality. The visitors’ squad is valued at 54.30 million euros, which is more than twice the market value of the home team (26.73 million euros). In addition, the hosts have won only two of their last eight matches.
