Will the semifinals mark the end of the road for Sascha once again?
Overall, Alexander Zverev is having a very strong 2026 season. Although the world No. 3 hasn’t won a title yet, he has now reached the semifinals in Monte Carlo, marking his fourth major tournament of the new year. In the first three major tournaments (Australian Open, Indian Wells Masters, and Miami Masters), however, the German’s run ended in the semifinals—in two out of three cases against his current opponent, Jannik Sinner. Even now, we see very little value in betting on Alexander Zverev against Jannik Sinner.
No wonder, since the Italian—who would reclaim the world No. 1 ranking if he wins the tournament in the Principality of Monaco—has won all 16 of his last singles matches on the ATP Tour. In 15 of those 16 matches, the Sextner didn’t even drop a set. Only here in Monte Carlo did the 24-year-old surprisingly drop a set to Tomas Machác in the third round, losing the second set in a tiebreak. For the most part, however, the South Tyrolean has been flawless, which is why we’re now predicting that he’ll knock Alexander Zverev out of the competition 2-0 in their third meeting in 2026.
While the Sextner made short work of Félix Auger-Aliassime (ATP 7) on Friday in just 93 minutes, allowing only a single break point and confidently fending it off, Sascha once again had to work extremely hard. Against Cristian Garín, the Hamburg native was already on the brink of elimination, trailing 2-5 in the deciding set, before he once again had to go the full three sets in the quarterfinals against Joao Fonseca (ATP 40), spending two hours and 42 minutes on the court.
Alexander Zverev – Jannik Sinner Head-to-Head Record
Head to Head: 4:8
The two athletes have faced each other a total of twelve times so far, and with eight wins, Jannik Sinner leads the head-to-head series. Recently, the balance of power has clearly shifted in favor of the Italian, who has won all seven of his most recent matches against Alexander Zverev. The Sextner also won both of their meetings in the 2026 calendar year against the German, winning both matches without dropping a set.
Alexander Zverev – Jannik Sinner Prediction
The German number one has already shown signs of weakness multiple times throughout the tournament, which is why our prediction for Alexander Zverev vs. Jannik Sinner points to a clear 2-0 victory for the Italian, who has already knocked Sascha out of Masters tournaments in both Indian Wells and Miami with straight-set 2-0 wins in the semifinals and could now secure a Masters hat trick against the Hamburg native. This is supported by the fact that the 28-year-old has lost all of his last seven singles matches against the South Tyrolean.
Jannik Sinner is also in brilliant form, having celebrated 16 consecutive singles victories and failing to drop a set in 15 of those 16 matches, so we are now betting on a 2-0 victory for the Sextner. For this, Betano is offering odds of 1.47 on Alexander Zverev vs. Jannik Sinner, which we’re backing with six out of ten units.
