Nothing in it for the Frenchman?

As the number eleven seed, Casper Ruud had a bye in the first round of the Western & Southern Open 2025. The Norwegian now enters the second round and faces Arthur Rinderknech, who won his opening match against Nuno Borges in straight sets 2-0. It was only the Frenchman’s 14th singles victory on the ATP Tour in the 2025 calendar year, with 21 defeats already on the board – including two lost matches against Casper Ruud. Consequently, the tip for the second-round match between Casper Ruud and Arthur Rinderknech is that the Norwegian will once again come out on top.

However, the hard court major tournament in Cincinnati, traditionally the last major tournament before the US Open, has not been a particularly happy hunting ground for Casper Ruud. The Norwegian has played eight matches in the men’s singles here and won just two, giving him a disappointing win rate of only 25 percent. The 26-year-old has failed to make it past the second round three times in a row after receiving a bye in the first round, even though he had a tough draw in 2024, for example, when he faced hard court specialist Félix Auger-Aliassime.

Nevertheless, the odds from the top bookmakers clearly favor Casper Ruud over Arthur Rinderknech. The Interwetten app is offering odds of just 1.30 for a victory for the world number 13, which also reflects the direct comparison between the two players. The two athletes have crossed paths four times so far, and in all four cases Casper Ruud won 2-0 against the Frenchman, who was never close to winning a set in any of the eight sets. Not a single tiebreak has been played between the two players.

Contrary to the Norwegian’s poor record at the Western & Southern Open, the bet that the 26-year-old Arthur Rinderknech will once again defeat Casper Ruud 2-0 in Cincinnati is very playable and offers a good balance between risk, probability and potential winnings.

Casper Ruud – Arthur Rinderknech Head-to-head comparison / H2H record

Head to head: 4:0

The two players have met four times so far, and in all four cases Casper Ruud has won 2:0 against the Frenchman. The Norwegian did not have to play a single tiebreak in the eight sets he played against Arthur Rinderknech and has already beaten the 30-year-old twice in 2025 – at the Acapulco Open in Mexico on hard court (6-4, 6-3) and at the Madrid Masters on clay (6-3, 6-4).

Casper Ruud – Arthur Rinderknech Tip

Despite a weak win rate of just 25 percent at the Western & Southern Open, our prediction for Casper Ruud and Arthur Rinderknech is that the Norwegian will advance, having won all four previous singles matches against the Frenchman 2-0. The 30-year-old player from the Côte d’Azur has never won a single set against the man from Oslo, who has already recorded a 2-0 victory on hard court against Arthur Rinderknech this year.

Considering that the odds for a win are too low, we have decided to bet on the Norwegian securing another clear 2-0 victory against the Frenchman and advancing to the third round of the Western & Southern Open for the first time since 2021.

For a 2-0 victory for the Oslo native, Bet-at-home is offering odds of 1.88 on Casper Ruud and Arthur Rinderknech, which we are betting four out of ten units on.
