Local hero against Wimbledon legend!

Despite being 38 years old, Novak Djokovic still has big goals in mind. For example, the Serbian wants to win the title for the eighth (!) time at the most prestigious and oldest tennis tournament in the world at Wimbledon this year. This would put him on par with icon and record holder Roger Federer in terms of Grand Slam victories on the hallowed turf of London. However, there is still a long way to go before then. At least in the second-round match between Evans and Djokovic, a bet on “Nole” should be a mere formality.

However, a certain residual risk remains for two reasons. On the one hand, Djokovic struggled with stomach problems in his opening match, which even forced him to lose a set. On the other hand, Dan Evans is a relatively prominent opponent who has enjoyed considerable success on grass throughout his long career and, as a Brit, can count on the support of the fans at the All England Tennis Club. Whether that will be enough to move away from the prediction of a straight-sets victory for the former world number one ahead of the Evans vs. Djokovic duel remains to be seen.

Daniel Evans – Statistics & current form

Daniel Evans is a well-known name on the ATP Tour. Although the 35-year-old has no particular successes to show for himself in Masters or even Grand Slam tournaments, the man from Birmingham still managed to reach 21st in the world rankings in his prime. Winning the Davis Cup with the British team exactly ten years ago is probably his greatest career achievement to date.

Dan Evans’ trademark is his tremendous ability to keep many balls in play from a defensive position. At just 1.75 meters tall and weighing 75 kilograms, the veteran is one of the most agile players on the tennis circuit. The Englishman never gives up a point, resorting to slices if necessary to take a purely reactive stance from the baseline, relying on his patience and nerves of steel. However, the truth is that the 35-year-old does not have a real winning shot, rarely scores free points with his first serve and has also declined significantly in recent years.

Evans has had a lackluster season so far

This is also reflected in the results, as the nimble right-hander recorded far more defeats than victories in 2023 and 2024. In the current season, too, he has often been eliminated in the qualifiers or in the early rounds of the main draw. Evans has won only 16 of his 34 singles matches in 2025. The logical consequence of his continuous decline was a drop to 154th in the world rankings.

Nevertheless, the oldie on grass should not be taken lightly. Evans has reached the third round of Wimbledon three times (most recently in 2021). In the current season, the two-time Grand Slam quarter-finalist has even won seven of his eleven matches on grass. Among other things, he reached the quarter-finals of the preparatory tournament in Eastbourne.

His straight-sets victory over fellow Brit Jay Clarke in the first round at Wimbledon also showed that he can be dangerous on grass. However, in my opinion, not against Djokovic. That’s exactly why my Evans vs. Djokovic prediction is clearly in favor of the Serb. Even a surprise set win for the underdog would already bring 2.55 at Interwetten.

Novak Djokovic – Statistics & current form

There was cause for concern for Novak Djokovic on Tuesday. The tennis legend was clearly struggling with severe stomach pains and even had to receive treatment from the medical staff on court. As a result, the seven-time Wimbledon champion lost the second set to French underdog Alexandre Muller. While the first fans were already sensing a sensation, the medication administered began to take effect. Although “Nole” did not play his best tennis, he only lost two games in total in the third and fourth sets. In the end, he still advanced to the second round with confidence.

Djokovic loves the hallowed turf of London

In any case, it can be assumed that the 38-year-old will be fully recovered after a full day of rest. In addition, Djokovic is likely to improve with each round, especially since he did not play a single preparatory tournament on grass and it traditionally takes a little time to adjust from the slow clay courts to grass. But if anyone can do that faster than the competition, it’s the current world number five.

In general, it would be a good idea to consider betting on a straight three-set victory for Djokovic over Evans. After all, Djoker himself describes Wimbledon as one of his favorite tournaments on the tour. No wonder, as the Serb has reached the final six times (!) in a row, winning a total of seven titles in his career at the classic tennis tournament in London, yet still losing to Carlos Alcaraz in each of the last two years.

It would therefore be a big surprise if “Nole” were to drop a set in the second round. Even a tie-break seems unlikely given the tennis legend’s outstanding return quality. Those who want to bet that no set will go to a decider can get odds of up to 1.72 for the Evans vs. Djokovic match at VBET. Until the 13th

Daniel Evans – Novak Djokovic Head-to-head record / H2H record

Although the two pros have a combined age of 73 and have been playing on the ATP Tour together for almost two decades, they have actually only met once. Over four years ago, Daniel Evans sensationally won in two sets at the Monte Carlo Masters. Evans is thus one of the very few players of this tennis generation who can say they have a positive record against the man who topped the world rankings for 428 weeks. Unfortunately for Dan Evans, this privilege will no longer apply after Thursday’s first Grand Slam duel.

Daniel Evans – Novak Djokovic Tip

An interesting second-round match awaits us on Thursday at the third Grand Slam tournament of the year. Novak Djokovic faces Daniel Evans, who is only three years younger and can count on the support of his compatriots in London. Although the 35-year-old Brit is well known as a good grass court player, with seven wins in eleven grass matches in 2025, he is up against “Nole,” a seven-time Wimbledon winner who has also reached the final at the All England Tennis Club six times in a row.

The fact that the 24-time Grand Slam winner had to seek medical attention during his opening match is not a problem for me in the second duel. Djoker will be fit and highly motivated to win in three straight sets this time. I am firmly convinced that he will succeed and therefore recommend betting on a 3-0 set victory for the clear favorite before the Evans vs. Djokovic match. Bet-at-Home is offering odds of 1.55 for this outcome. I am betting seven units.
