US boy vs. substitute!

The 2025 ATP Finals in Turin will have to do without Serbian record winner Novak Djokovic this year. The seven-time winner canceled his participation at short notice due to a shoulder injury.

The former Italian will be somewhat tired when he takes on the American. The reason for this was his participation in the final of the ATP tournament in Athens, where he made his way to the final – and lost to Djokovic, of all people, whom he will now replace.

The final took place last Saturday, and Musetti lost to Novak Djokovic, who withdrew from the tournament in Turin shortly after winning his 101st title on the ATP Tour. The 23-year-old thus slipped into the tournament as a backup, and Fritz must have been pleased with this development.

He did recently beat “Djoker” at the Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia, but that was only because his opponent was injured, and it was his first victory after twelve previous defeats against the 24-time Grand Slam winner! For the upcoming showdown between Lorenzo Musetti and Taylor Fritz at the Inalpi Arena, the prediction is that the American will prevail.

Lorenzo Musetti – Taylor Fritz Head-to-head record

Lorenzo Musetti prevailed in the last two matches against Fritz. Among other things, he won against the 28-year-old in the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games last year, who celebrated two tournament victories on grass this year (Stuttgart and Eastbourne).

Thanks to these two victories, Musetti ended a previous streak of three defeats in this pairing. For the upcoming match in the “Jimmy Connors” group between Lorenzo Musetti and Taylor Fritz, the odds are once again in favor of the American.

Lorenzo Musetti – Taylor Fritz Tip

Fritz does not have to face his nemesis due to Novak Djokovic’s last-minute withdrawal. Instead, he faces Musetti, a clearly beatable opponent. The Italian reached the final of the inaugural Hellenic Championship last weekend, but lost, and the tournament under the Acropolis is a relatively insignificant one with 250 status.

The fact that a top player like Djokovic competed was probably more due to the fact that it took place in his adopted home of Athens. In terms of play, Fritz and Musetti are certainly on par with each other on hard courts, but the American will now be fresher than his opponent.

In addition, Fritz has significantly more experience at the ATP Finals. Last year, he even made it to the final, where he was defeated by Jannik Sinner. In his first and so far only other appearance in 2022, he also reached at least the semifinals.

In contrast, Musetti will be making his ATP Finals debut in the upcoming match! Given this situation, we are opting for the Lorenzo Musetti vs. Taylor Fritz betting odds in favor of a victory for the Californian.
