Shaky victory for the Warsteiner?

Jan-Lennard Struff hasn’t had much to smile about in the past at the “Happy Slam”: he has only survived the first round twice in eleven appearances! Read our Vit Kopriva vs. Jan-Lennard Struff prediction to find out how we rate his chances as he returns to the Australian Open!

Despite his poor record “Down Under” so far, the German is the favorite against his upcoming opponent. His Czech opponent is ranked 100th in the world, which is 16 places lower than the Warsteiner.

Furthermore, Kopriva is virtually unknown in Grand Slam tournaments. He has yet to win a match at the Australian Open, and last year he achieved his only Grand Slam singles victory to date in Paris at the French Open against Brazil’s Thiago Monteiro.

Like Struff, he feels more comfortable on clay, as his French Open victory suggests. Nevertheless, we do not expect it to be a walk in the park for the German.

Kopriva has only played one match in the main draw at the Australian Open and has been knocked out three times in qualifying, but in that match two years ago, he put up a good fight against the then favorite Jan Korda from the USA and only had to admit defeat after five sets.

Furthermore, Struff’s form is currently not very convincing. In fact, he was knocked out in the qualifiers at the dress rehearsal for the first Grand Slam tournament of the year in Auckland. In view of this, the tip for a victory for the German and at the same time a set win for his opponent seems promising in the duel between Vit Kopriva and Jan-Lennard Struff.

Vit Kopriva – Jan-Lennard Struff Head-to-head record

Struff draws courage from his personal record against the Czech. The duel took place only once last fall at the tournament in Lyon, but it was very one-sided in favor of the German, who won 6-1, 6-2.

In his quarterfinal victory at the Challenger tournament against the Czech player coached by Jaroslav Pospíšil, he also stayed just under an hour of playing time. For the next edition of Jan-Lennard Struff vs. Vit Kopriva, the odds are once again pointing toward a victory for the Warstein native.

Vit Kopriva – Jan-Lennard Struff Tip

Struff has only made it past the first round of the Australian Open twice, but this time he is lucky with his upcoming opponent from Czechia. Kopriva is only in the main draw of the tournament for the second time and, at the same time, for the first time without prior qualification.

The 28-year-old professional from Bílovec has not yet made a big impression on the ATP Tour, but he does have at least half a dozen Challenger titles to his name – including triumphs in Verona in 2023 and Naples two years later. Furthermore, he climbed into the top 100 of the world rankings for the first time last year and celebrated his debut at several Masters tournaments.

His career has taken off, and Kopriva already demonstrated his talent as a junior player when he won matches against future top players such as Norway’s Casper Ruud and Australia’s Alex de Minaur. Nevertheless, we consider him the underdog against the German.

At the same time, however, we believe he can at least put up a fight against his opponent at times. In view of this, the Vit Kopriva vs. Jan-Lennard Struff betting odds on the German losing a set and Kopriva winning the match are worth considering.

This is also supported by Struff’s inconsistent form. He recently made it through qualifying in Hong Kong, but then lost in the first round to Dutchman Botic Van De Zandschulp. On top of that, he even failed to qualify for the main draw at the preparatory tournament in Auckland. These disappointing results have certainly not boosted his confidence ahead of the Australian Open.
