Will the Texans make short work of them?
The Western Conference Semifinals are kicking off, and we’ve got a tip ready for Game 1 between the San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves! The home team confidently knocked the Portland Trail Blazers out of the postseason with a 4-1 series win in the previous round.
In contrast, the visitors had to put in a bit more effort. It took them six games against the Denver Nuggets to secure their spot in the Western Conference semifinals. Admittedly, the task was significantly tougher against the third-place team in the Western Conference regular season compared to Portland, which had only qualified for the 2026 NBA Playoffs as the seventh seed.
However, the visitors now face their next tough opponent in the Spurs. The Texans finished the regular season in second place behind the champions from Oklahoma and have Victor Wembanyama, the current “NBA Defensive Player of the Year,” in their ranks.
We expect the Frenchman to lead the way again in the first game and are therefore predicting that “Wemby” will score more than 27.5 points in the matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Furthermore, we see signs of a clear home win for the Spurs by at least a twelve-point margin. The basketball team from “Countdown City” is very strong at home and has lost only two of their last eleven games in front of their own fans.
Furthermore, the visitors will have to make do without two injured starters, Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo. The absence of the former, “Ant-Man,” in particular, significantly weakens the Timberwolves.
The San Antonio vs. Minnesota odds on De’Aaron Fox scoring more than 17.5 points could also be worth a bet. The Spurs guard is having a strong postseason and surpassed the selected point total in each of his last three games against Portland—averaging 22.3 points!
San Antonio Spurs – Minnesota Timberwolves Head-to-Head Record
Minnesota hasn’t been a favorite opponent for the Spurs in quite some time: Although the home team won the most recent matchup in mid-January of this year, the victory was a narrow 126-123 win. Furthermore, the hosts lost the five previous showdowns with the T-Wolves!
Regardless, the betting odds for the upcoming game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves clearly favor a home win.
San Antonio Spurs – Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction
Victor Wembanyama has been playing in the NBA since 2023 and won the title of Rookie of the Year in his very first season. His selection this year as the NBA’s best defensive player was also historic.
Never before has a player won this award unanimously, and he is also the youngest pro to hold this title. The 2023 first overall pick is competing in the playoffs for the first time this season, and the forward is handling this challenge with astonishing confidence.
In the previous series against Portland, the 22-year-old posted slightly lower average stats in points and rebounds than during the regular season, but this was also due to the fact that he was on the court for only twelve minutes in Game 2 because of an injury.
Furthermore, his four blocks per game are the best in the current postseason, and the upcoming opponent suits him well: In the two regular-season matchups, Wembanyama scored 39 and 29 points against Coach Chris Finch’s team. Given this, we see sufficient value in the odds for “Wemby” to score more than 27.5 points in Game 1 between the San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
