Can the Pistons follow up with another win against the Cavs?

The hosts disappointed in their 2026 NBA Playoffs opener: Surprisingly, they only managed a narrow 4-3 victory against Orlando.

An opponent that only made it to the postseason via the play-in tournament and was also dealing with injuries, such as that of Franz Wagner. In the current round, however, the best team in the Eastern Conference during the regular season started with a home win against the visitors from Ohio, and we have a tip ready for Game 2 between the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Motown basketball hunters were wide awake from the start in the opener against the Cavs. As a result, they had more or less sealed the game for themselves after the first quarter. The “Pistons” won that quarter 37-21! Just as in the previous series against the Magic, Tobias Harris delivered a reliable performance with 20 points.

Following Cade Cunningham, the veteran is increasingly establishing himself as the second-best scorer on the home team. With that in mind, for Game 2 between the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers, we’re predicting that the former Sixers player will once again score more than 18.5 points.

Furthermore, we also expect James Harden to score more than 18.5 points for the visitors. The guard started the series with 22 points but was still dissatisfied in the end, as he committed no fewer than seven turnovers. We therefore expect a reaction from him, along with another high scoring output.

Furthermore, in our view, the odds on the Detroit Pistons not losing by more than three points in their matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers could be worth a bet. Although the visitors, as mentioned, slept through the first quarter, they played on equal terms afterward. Fundamentally, we consider Cleveland’s roster to be at least on par with Detroit’s anyway.

Detroit Pistons – Cleveland Cavaliers Head-to-Head Record

Prior to their most recent matchup, which ended in a 111-101 victory for the Pistons, Coach J.B. Bickerstaff’s squad and the Cavs faced off four times during the regular season. In those games, the home team recorded just one win—and that came only after overtime against the 2016 champions.

For the upcoming matchup at Little Caesars Arena between the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers, the odds now point toward a home win.

Detroit Pistons – Cleveland Cavaliers Prediction

Both teams only made it through the first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs after seven games! While the three-time NBA champions defeated Orlando, the visitors edged out Toronto by the skin of their teeth. In both cases, the long series were a disappointment.

After all, the Pistons were the best team in the Eastern Conference during the regular season, and the Cavs boast a star-studded roster that is ideally suited for a deep postseason run. In the first matchup between the two franchises, the home team came out on top, thanks in no small part to another solid performance by Tobias Harris.

The 33-year-old already delivered a convincing series in the previous round against Orlando. He boosted his scoring average from the regular season from 13.3 to 21.6 points! The uptick is primarily due to significantly more playing time.

It’s clear that Coach J. B. Bickerstaff wants to rely more heavily on his veteran’s experience in the playoffs. With that in mind, and given his 20 points in the opener, the betting odds on Harris scoring more than 18.5 points in Game 2 between the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers look promising. A mark he has consistently surpassed in each of his six postseason games so far!
