Will the Eagles get back on track in London?
Tottenham Hotspur is already welcoming the NFL in Week 2, this time for our Jaguars vs. Eagles pick. The Jaguars are officially listed as the home team, but in the last London matchup between these two teams in 2018, the Eagles emerged victorious—also as the visiting team.
So we don’t see a real home-field advantage here. However, we do see an advantage in terms of current form for the Jags, who are coming in on the back of two straight wins. The Eagles, on the other hand, lost to the Bears and the Rams. On top of that, they lost Pro Bowler Lane Johnson midweek, who surprisingly retired.
So, for the Jaguars vs. Eagles matchup, our prediction is that a revamped Eagles team will give the Jags a tough fight. Whether this will ultimately be enough for a win remains to be seen, especially since Jacksonville recently proved against the Bengals that it can win close games.
The second London Game of the season kicks off on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Tottenham Stadium in London. The game will be broadcast live on Sky and RTL. In recent years, the London Games have often been low-scoring affairs, likely due in part to the teams’ jet lag. This is also reflected in the Jaguars vs. Eagles odds, which project a total of just 41.5 points. The Eagles, in particular, are expected to score only 16–17 points. That’s a number they should ultimately surpass, given that they average 18.8 points per game. Betting on the Eagles to go over is therefore definitely a viable option.
Jacksonville Jaguars – Philadelphia Eagles Head-to-Head Record
The Eagles have won all five of their most recent matchups—including their first London showdown in 2018. Each of those victories also came by a margin of at least five points—a fact we shouldn’t overlook. Thus, betting on Philly +7.5 is a very good option here.
Furthermore, when the Jags face the Eagles, the betting odds on rushing touchdowns are worth considering. For the Jags, Bhayshul Tuten has already reached the end zone twice, while for the Eagles, Jalen Hurts is always a good bet with his “Tush Push.”
Jacksonville Jaguars – Philadelphia Betting Tip
The Eagles average 18.8 points, while the Jaguars average 26.0. That accounts for almost exactly the +7.5-point spread that bookmakers are offering for this matchup. However, the Eagles are known for making adjustments, and they last lost three games in a row in the fall of 2020.
We therefore don’t see a blowout victory for the Jags coming here, which makes a bet on the Eagles to score over 16.5 points our top pick for this Jaguars vs. Eagles matchup. A bet on the Eagles +7.5 also makes sense in this matchup.
For player bets, we’ve already discussed picks on Bhayshul Tuten and Jalen Hurts. Tuten is the Jaguars’ undisputed No. 1 running back, and Hurts has recorded double-digit rushing touchdowns in four of the last five seasons.
