Will the top favorites in LA find their form?
“Losing is not an option” is the motto for the LA Rams on NFL Week 2 in our Rams vs. Giants pick. After all, following their opening-week drubbing against the 49ers, a loss would take all the momentum out of their season very early on. The fact that superstar Myles Garrett is sidelined right now, of all times, certainly doesn’t help their cause.
Unsurprisingly, the Rams are still the top favorites in the 2027 Super Bowl odds. But a home loss to the Giants would certainly send those odds tumbling—in a negative direction from the Rams’ perspective. So against New York, their offense—which also underperformed in Australia—will have to step up now.
The question is: How much weight should we give to that loss in Australia? The Rams made the big mistake of arriving just a few hours before the game to avoid jet lag—and it had exactly the opposite effect. They were the clearly more tired team. Now they’ve had over a week to recover, which should have helped.
So for Rams vs. Giants, our prediction is a significantly fresher Rams team, though the loss of Garrett will hurt them. If Jaxson Dart and the Giants’ offense get rolling again like they did against Dallas, then a high-scoring game is possible here. And in a shootout, New York might even pull off an upset.
Despite their slow start, the Rams are considered the clear favorites. That makes handicap bets a bit tricky, though bets on the Rams -6.5 are still an option. However, we prefer total points bets—both on the total points and on Giants points, as they’re somewhat underrated. So, in the LA vs. New York matchup, the odds on the Giants scoring over 16.5 points are worth considering due to Garrett’s absence.
Los Angeles Rams – New York Giants Head-to-Head Record
The head-to-head record in this matchup has spoken volumes recently. The Rams have won all four previous meetings since 2017, even though the last matchup in 2023 was a close one (26–25). Three of the last four meetings were also high-scoring games, each with over 48.5 total points.
We expect the same on Monday, as the Rams’ defense hasn’t been playing well this season and now has to cope with Garrett’s absence. Aaron Donald will make his return, but after several years away from the game, he’ll likely need time to get back to his top form.
Los Angeles Rams – New York Giants Pick
The odds on the Rams would likely be even more lopsided if they hadn’t suffered that opening-week loss. That at least leaves a small window open for handicap bets. Nevertheless, this isn’t our preferred option, as we view the Giants’ offense as quite efficient (after all, they scored 28 points and earned 29 first downs against Dallas).
So for Los Angeles vs. New York, our top pick is Over 48 total points. This total was surpassed in three of the last four matchups, and with Myles Garrett now out, the Rams’ defense likely isn’t quite in top form yet.
For the player bet, we’re sticking with our classic pick here: a touchdown bet on Kyren Williams. He’s simply the most likely option right now in an offense that, after a rough start, should be catching fire. Last year, Williams scored 13 touchdowns, and he was also the Rams’ only touchdown scorer in Australia last week.
