Will the 49ers come out on top against the champions as well?

The Firestarters travel to face the Super Bowl champions in our Seahawks vs. 49ers preview. San Francisco has started the season 4-0, making them one of only three undefeated teams left in the NFL. However, Seattle is also in good shape with a 3-1 record, and there’s no sign of a Super Bowl hangover.

This sets the stage for a real test of mettle for the Niners, who will be without fullback Kyle Juszczyk. Furthermore, in their last three matchups with Seattle, they’ve averaged just 8.7 points—a meager total for such a potent offense.

But this number also speaks to the Seahawks’ magnificent defense, which is once again allowing the fewest yards per game this year (246.8)—making it quite easy to predict an under in the Seattle vs. San Francisco matchup. This NFC West showdown kicks off Sunday at 10:25 p.m. in Seattle. The game will be broadcast live on RTL and on RTL+.

This makes betting on the under for the Seahawks vs. 49ers a solid option—though the same applies to betting on the under for the 49ers. Their average of 8.7 points over the last three games is the fewest points the Niners have scored against any opponent—which makes the Hawks something of a bogey team for them.

Seattle Seahawks – San Francisco 49ers Head-to-Head Record

Seattle has won three of the last four matchups. On average, they’ve allowed the 49ers just 10.75 points in those games—an incredible figure over four games. Since the Niners also struggled for a long time to move the ball against Denver recently (3–3 well into the third quarter), an under is likely here.

After all, Seattle also struggles to score against good defenses from time to time. Against the Chargers, they didn’t score a single point in the fourth quarter. Since we consider both defensive units to be among the best in the league, the 46.5 total points seem very high to us.

Seattle Seahawks – San Francisco 49ers Pick

We’ve already listed many factors, and most of them favor the Seahawks here, which of course makes betting on Seattle a viable option—especially since they’re only favored by 3.0 points. Nevertheless, the expected low-scoring game always carries a small residual risk for moneyline bets.

So, for the Seahawks vs. 49ers matchup, betting on the total to go under 46.5 points is our preferred option, as the 46.5 total has been exceeded only twice in the last ten meetings. This matchup is thus also among the lowest-scoring during that period.

For player bets, we’re also looking at the Seahawks, where Smith-Njigba is naturally a top choice for touchdown picks. In the four games so far, the star player has already scored six touchdowns, leading the league in that category.
