Will the Swiss storm into the home final?
It’s David vs. Goliath in the first semifinal of the 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship in Switzerland. In our Switzerland vs. Norway prediction, the Swiss are heavy favorites at -3.5 points. That’s a margin usually seen only in preliminary round games.
But the Norwegians have made it to this semifinal as major underdogs—aided, of course, by a somewhat weaker group and a favorable draw in the quarterfinals. However, it is highly likely that their run will end here against the host nation.
Switzerland boasts not only the best offense but also the best defense at this World Championship, and anything less than a clear victory would be surprising. It’s no coincidence that the odds reflect this. Furthermore, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Swiss really get their scoring touch going in preparation for the final.
-3.5 points is, of course, a steep handicap, and the question is whether the Swiss will actually cover it. If the Norwegians somehow manage to score two goals, it would have to be a high-scoring game to pull that off. For anyone riding the Switzerland hype (which is certainly justified), this handicap is still worth considering given the good odds.
Alternatively, goal bets or bets on Switzerland scoring over 3.5 goals are good options. The Swiss should definitely be able to surpass that against the underdog.
Switzerland – Norway Head-to-Head Record
The last six head-to-head matches have all gone to Switzerland. Not only that, but all six games were decided by a margin of at least three goals, which once again underscores their status as favorites in this match.
It should be noted, however, that five of these victories were by exactly a three-goal margin, so the -3.5 handicap is statistically somewhat shaky. The Norwegians have scored more than one goal in only one of those matches, which in turn makes bets on Norway Under 1.5 a viable option.
So for Switzerland vs. Norway, the betting odds on Switzerland are naturally worth taking advantage of; the only question is in what form. Over 3.5 goals scored by Switzerland is our preferred option, followed by combination bets like Switzerland + Over Goals or even Switzerland + Goal bets on individual players (Josi, Hischier).
Switzerland – Norway Tip
Unless everything goes completely wrong for the Swiss, they should advance to their home final. However, such one-sided favorite status always makes betting quite difficult. With 4.7 goals scored per game, we see the greatest value among all bets here.
Therefore, for Switzerland vs. Norway, a bet on Switzerland to score over 3.5 goals is our top pick. Combined with a Swiss victory, this can even be boosted a bit further.
This time, we’ve also selected goal-scoring bets as very good alternatives. With Roman Josi (5 goals) and Nico Hischier (5), the Swiss have two players among the top 5 goal-scorers, and we believe they’ll each score again on Saturday.
Given the higher odds for Switzerland vs. Norway, we recommend betting on Josi, who is an absolute force, especially on the power play (where Switzerland leads the World Championship with a 37.5% success rate).
