Will Real Betis also stop the high-flying Barcelona team?

Will the still-undefeated Spanish league leader suffer its first slip-up in my Betis Sevilla vs. Barcelona prediction? At the very least, Hansi Flick and his team face an opponent in top form this coming Saturday—one that currently seems unstoppable and is striking fear into the hearts of La Liga teams.

Last weekend against Getafe, the Blaugrana secured their eighth win in eight league games. Barça simply seems unstoppable right now, and yet I see potential for an upset in my Betis Sevilla vs. Barcelona prediction. That’s because the Andalusians have also had a very strong season so far, which is why I can even imagine a draw—or at most a narrow loss—this coming Saturday.

On average, more than five goals have been scored in the Catalans’ league matches so far across their eight games. And in the most recent clashes between the two teams’ strong offenses, there was plenty of excitement to go around.

Betis Sevilla – Barcelona Head-to-Head Record

It’s a clear-cut story when it comes to the head-to-head record between the two teams. Of the 124 matches played so far, Barça has won 78, while Betis Sevilla has come out on top only 23 times. The same number of matches ended in a draw (23). The Andalusians’ home record against the Blaugrana (17-15-30) is somewhat more encouraging, though still negative.

More recently, FC Barcelona has also prevailed in three of the last four league away games (one draw) against Betis at their home stadium. Not least for this reason, the betting odds for Betis Sevilla vs. Barcelona this coming Saturday once again favor the visitors.

Betis Sevilla – Barcelona Prediction

At FC Barcelona, former national team coach Hansi Flick is able to perfectly implement his style of play. Flick’s brand of soccer—characterized by maximum intensity and a high-pressing, vertical attacking style—is currently being executed flawlessly by his team. Of course, the German coach also has absolute standouts like Lamine Yamal, Rapinha, and others at his disposal.

On the other hand, Hansi Flick’s style of play always carries the risk of conceding goals. Although the Blaugrana kept another clean sheet last weekend, they had previously conceded at least one goal in each of their last four league matches. That’s why I believe the hosts, who are in good form, are capable of finding gaps in Barça’s defense as well.

After all, the Andalusians have had a strong season so far and deservedly sit in third place in La Liga. Manuel Pellegrini’s team has suffered just one loss in the Spanish league, along with six wins and one draw. At home in the Estadio Benito Villamarín, they’ve recorded nothing but wins so far, conceding only two goals in four matches. Among other victories, they defeated Barça’s archrival Real Madrid 1-0 here just a few weeks ago.

And the Blaugrana are certainly not in for an easy ride against the third-place team. I therefore expect the Spanish league leaders to concede at least one goal. However, Barcelona’s offense will likely be unstoppable once again, which is why my Betis Sevilla vs. Barcelona prediction focuses primarily on plenty of goals.
