Will the Nerazzurri build on their strong start?

Champions Inter are, of course, aiming to win the Scudetto again this coming summer. The Nerazzurri have already gotten off to a strong start, crushing AC Monza 4-1 at their home stadium, the Giuseppe Meazza. Now, however, they head to Sardinia.

When making a prediction for Cagliari vs. Inter Milan, it’s important to note that the Rossoblù, under Fabio Pisacane, have also gotten off to a strong start. Their 1-0 victory over Arezzo in the Coppa Italia was followed by another 1-0 win at Parma. Across both seasons, the Sardinians have now won four consecutive competitive matches.

And yet, there’s a significant disparity between the two clubs. The Nerazzurri haven’t lost any of their last 13 meetings with the Sardinians (ten wins, three draws) and just last season picked up the full six points against the Rossoblù with two shutout victories. Accordingly, the prediction for Cagliari vs. Inter Milan is that the Lombards will once again secure an away win without conceding a goal at the Unipol Domus. We’re particularly bullish on the prediction that Inter will win 1-0, 2-0, or 3-0—a result that, incidentally, would have held true in four of the last six meetings between the two teams.

Alternatively, one could take a more neutral approach and predict that Cagliari’s defense—which has been so solid so far, recording two clean sheets in two competitive matches of the still-young 2026–27 season—will also make life difficult for Inter’s offense. There isn’t much to suggest a goal fest in Sardinia anyway. Accordingly, a completely neutral bet on “Under” goals makes sense, though we’d be reluctant to categorically rule out at least a third goal.

Cagliari – Inter Milan Head-to-Head Record

Head-to-Head: 16 – 32 – 54

A total of 102 matches have been played between the two teams so far, and with 54 wins, Inter Milan holds a very clear lead in the head-to-head record. The Nerazzurri are currently unbeaten in their last 13 matches against the Sardinians (ten wins, three draws) and also secured all six points against the Rossoblù last season with two shutout victories.

Cagliari vs. Inter Milan Prediction

The Sardinians have certainly gotten off to an excellent start and have also coped well with the departures of Matteo Prati and Sebastiano Esposito. However, it seems quite unlikely to us that the Rossoblù will automatically be able to trouble the reigning champions right away.

Fabio Pisacane will certainly opt for a defensive approach. However, the Lombards are traveling to Sardinia with the best offense in Serie A, even though their roster planning isn’t yet fully finalized. Coach Cristian Chivu, however, dismissively brushed aside all speculation with “The transfer market has worn me out” and stated that he’d rather focus entirely on Cagliari.

Even considering their head-to-head record, we believe a shutout victory for the Nerazzurri is the most likely outcome. Since we consider a rout with four or more Inter goals to be very unlikely, you can also place a bet—available exclusively at Winamax—that the Lombards will win 1–0, 2–0, or 3–0.
