Battle for Europe
“Black and white like snow, that’s SGE”—that’s the battle cry of Eintracht fans. This season, however, has been more of a “black” one for the Hessians, who may even miss out on European qualification this coming weekend. To keep their slim chance of qualifying alive, Eintracht needs a home win in the Frankfurt vs. VfB Stuttgart match.
The upcoming opponent of the moody diva from the Main, on the other hand, is already assured of a spot in next season’s European Cup. And should our Frankfurt vs. VfB Stuttgart prediction—which favors the visitors from Swabia—come true, Hoeneß’s team could even finish the season in fourth place. That would mean a spot in the Champions League and the chance for millions in revenue.
So there’s a lot at stake for both teams this coming Saturday. Not least because of this, following VfB’s 3-2 victory in the first leg, I expect another lively, high-scoring match, as only a win counts for both teams in the upcoming clash.
Frankfurt vs. VfB Stuttgart AI Prediction
According to the Frankfurt vs. VfB Stuttgart AI prediction, the value in this match lies in betting on a home win. While Interwetten currently offers odds of 3.40 for this, the AI sees a fair price of 3.20 for a home win. In addition, AI calculates an xG of 3.26 for the upcoming match (Frankfurt 1.45 and Stuttgart 1.81).
The Frankfurt vs. VfB Stuttgart AI prediction estimates the probability of the match falling below this threshold to be significantly higher than the bookmaker does. While Interwetten offers odds of 2.05 for fewer than 3.5 goals in the match, AI calculates a fair odds of only about 1.57 for this bet.
Frankfurt – Statistics & Current Form
After Frankfurt’s management lost faith in a turnaround under Dino Toppmöller, Spaniard Albert Riera took over on the sidelines in Hesse following a brief interim stint by Dennis Schmitt. But even under the former Liverpool FC player, things hardly improved for the temperamental diva from the Main.
Will Frankfurt remain winless against Stuttgart?
At first, the Eagles showed a slight upward trend under Riera. Overall, however, his record now stands at four wins, four draws, and five losses—slightly negative—and a clear downward trend is evident. In addition to the on-field concerns, his extravagant communication style and his handling of the players have already caused irritation within the Eintracht camp on more than one occasion.
According to reports, this is why his tenure is set to end as early as this summer, putting an end to the misunderstanding with Riera. The on-field trend is clearly negative, with just four points from the last five matches. After the Spanish coach initially managed to stabilize the Eagles’ defense—which had been so vulnerable under Toppmöller—goals conceded have once again poured in en masse during these last five matches.

VfB Stuttgart – Stats & Current Form
After the Swabians’ engine had stalled somewhat recently with just two points from three matches, the Brustring-wearers provided the perfect response in the race for the Champions League with their victory over direct rival Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. Not only the win itself, but also the manner in which it was achieved should give the Swabians’ fans hope that a bet on an away win in the Frankfurt vs. VfB Stuttgart match will also pay off.
Can VfB Stuttgart defend fourth place?
In terms of play, the match against Leverkusen was certainly the best performance by Sebastian Hoeneß’s team in a long time. Once again, the last two matches against Leverkusen and Hoffenheim showed that Stuttgart simply has an easier time against teams that play along with VfB and don’t just focus on defending.
However, since both teams must win this upcoming match to achieve their season goals, I don’t expect another draw between the two sides, though I’ll still cover that possibility. As an alternative to the three-way market, goal bets are a good option for this match. After all, both teams will have to take risks sooner or later and possess strong attacking lines. Neither Frankfurt nor VfB has managed to keep a clean sheet recently, though. There is therefore much to suggest a high-scoring match to close out the season.

Frankfurt – VfB Stuttgart Head-to-Head Record
This traditional German rivalry has been played 145 times. The Swabians have claimed the majority of the victories. While VfB has celebrated 61 wins, the Hessians have 55. There have also been 29 draws. The most recent five Bundesliga matchups have also been very evenly matched.
While the temperamental diva from the Main has celebrated two wins in the last five league matches, VfB has won three games. This includes the first leg of this season on the Neckar. And in the return match, the Frankfurt vs. VfB Stuttgart betting odds also indicate that the visitors from the Swabian capital are the favorites.
Frankfurt – VfB Stuttgart Prediction
Sources close to Eintracht Frankfurt have indicated that quite a few within the club were already calling for the dismissal of controversial coach Albert Riera even before the final match against VfB. Nevertheless, the Spaniard will once again take his place on the bench for the Hessians against the Swabians. This is certainly a risk, as it is doubtful that his team still stands united behind him after the past few weeks. This is a factor that, in my Frankfurt vs. VfB Stuttgart prediction, tends to favor the visitors.
With a win and a simultaneous loss or draw by SC Freiburg, Eintracht could claim seventh place; however, with a loss, Frankfurt could theoretically even slip to ninth place and would thus certainly not qualify for European competition next season.
But even if the Eagles remain in eighth place, the minimum goal of the Conference League would not be secure.
Frankfurt would then depend on whether Freiburg wins the Europa League and plays in the Champions League next season. A win would therefore be enormously important in the battle for seventh place.
VfB’s situation, on the other hand, is simpler. With a win in Frankfurt, the Swabians would almost certainly be in the Champions League. This is because Hoeneß’s team has a goal difference five goals better than that of Hoffenheim, who are tied on points in fifth place. This scenario, where both teams must win, naturally points to a high-scoring match.
For the expected high-scoring and fast-paced match at Deutsche Bank Park, I therefore recommend betting on both teams to score and on more than two goals in the match. Even four or more goals don’t seem out of the question. Furthermore, based on the points mentioned, I’m leaning toward a VfB victory, but I expect at least two goals from the outstanding Swabian offense led by Deniz Undav against the currently vulnerable defense of the moody diva from the Main.
