Will Napoli Take Another Hit?
There’s no bigger showdown in Italy right now than the one featured in my Inter Milan vs. Napoli pick. After all, the Nerazzurri and Gli Azzurri—the top two teams from the past two Serie A seasons—are facing off. As expected, the bookies have the reigning Italian champions as favorites to win this matchup.
That’s because, at home, Inter hasn’t dropped a beat against the southern Italians from the foot of Mount Vesuvius in recent years. Naples has been waiting nearly ten years for its next league win at San Siro against the Nerazzurri. In my Inter Milan vs. Napoli prediction, I don’t expect Massimiliano Allegri’s team to end this losing streak this coming Saturday against a champions side in top form.
However, SSC Napoli has remained unbeaten in its last three matches in Milan against Chivu’s squad. While I don’t expect a win this coming Saturday, Napoli’s dangerous offense should make its mark by scoring at least one goal. But keeping a clean sheet against Italy’s most potent offensive team is unlikely.
Inter Milan – Napoli Head-to-Head Record
Inter Milan holds a relatively clear lead in the head-to-head record for this matchup. The Nerazzurri have prevailed 72 times in these encounters, while Napoli has won 51 matches. There have also been 45 draws. Inter’s home record against the Partenopei looks even better. A full 52 of the 82 matches at San Siro have gone to the home team.
Napoli has managed to prevail against the reigning Italian champions only ten times (52-20-10). Nevertheless, Massimiliano Allegri’s team has now gone three straight away games without a loss against the Nerazzurri. Therefore, caution is advised given the low betting odds for an Inter Milan victory against Napoli.

Inter Milan – Napoli Prediction
After a 33-year drought, SSC Napoli has already claimed the title in Italy’s top flight twice this decade. And with the exception of the disastrous 2023–24 season, the Partenopei have consistently finished in one of the top two spots in Italy’s top flight over the past five seasons. The expectations for this season speak for themselves.
Naturally, the goal at the foot of Mount Vesuvius is to finish at the very top once again this season. To that end, nearly 70 million euros were invested in the roster once more before the season began. In addition, Massimiliano Allegri succeeded Antonio Conte as the new head coach. In the season opener, his new team secured a 2–0 victory in Genoa.
However, the first home game of the new season brought an immediate setback. They suffered a 1–2 loss to Champions League participant Como at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
Reigning champion Inter Milan has gotten off to a strong start to the new season with six points from its first two matches. Granted, with all due respect, the caliber of their first two opponents, Cagliari and Monza, was rather modest. SSC Napoli now presents the first real test for Cristian Chivu’s team.
In my Inter Milan vs. Napoli prediction, I see the Nerazzurri holding the advantage once again on Matchday 3 of Serie A. However, the last three home games against the southern Italians ended in draws. In fact, four of the last five head-to-head matches between the two teams have ended in draws, which shows that both teams are on a similar level.
Although I consider Chivu’s squad to be the stronger team—and one that also has home-field advantage—I’m therefore cautious about betting on a win for the favorites. On the other hand, I find the bet on both teams to score in this match to be a sound choice and attractive in terms of odds.
Although both teams scored in each of their last five meetings, bookmakers view the likelihood of goals from both sides as lower than the opposite outcome. That’s why I see value in this bet, which I’m placing with a stake of three units.
