Can Osasuna still make it to Europe?

On Tuesday evening, Osasuna and Atletico Madrid face off in La Liga on Matchday 36. The hosts currently sit in tenth place with 42 points, while the visitors from Madrid are in fourth place with 63 points. A week ago, Atleti were eliminated from the Champions League with a 0-1 loss to Arsenal, followed by another 0-1 defeat in the league against Celta Vigo.

The hosts from Osasuna have been very prolific in front of their home crowd and have not failed to score in any of their 17 home games. They have been particularly effective in the second half recently—in five of their last six home games, the Basques have scored after the break. In our Osasuna vs. Atlético Madrid tip, we are therefore once again betting on “Osasuna to score in the second half.”

The hosts from Pamplona have proven to be a very strong home team this season. In 17 home games, they have lost only three—including the most recent one against FC Barcelona. Their head-to-head record against Atleti has also shown a positive upward trend recently: after losing 11 league games in a row, they have secured two wins in their last four encounters.

Given the Madrid side’s current form and the fact that they have already secured their Champions League spot, we are predicting another victory for the Basques in our Osasuna vs. Atlético Madrid forecast.

Atletico Madrid is currently in mediocre form, but recently managed to secure a win again after three away losses. The last four away games were extremely high-scoring, with a total of 15 goals scored. In three of those four games, both teams managed to score.

Osasuna – Atlético Madrid Head-to-Head Record

In head-to-head matchups, the statistics clearly favor Atlético Madrid. Out of 88 competitive matches to date, Atlético has won 50, while CA Osasuna has managed only 26 victories. Twelve encounters also ended in draws. The goal difference also clearly favors the Madrid side at 139:87. Especially in La Liga, Atletico has proven to be the consistently stronger team over many years.

Osasuna – Atletico Madrid Prediction

Looking at the bookmakers’ odds for Osasuna vs. Atlético Madrid, we’re in for a fairly even match—with a slight edge for the hosts. They haven’t failed to score a single goal at home this season and have lost only three of their 17 home games. On top of that, they’ve won two of their last four matches against Atlético, after having lost the previous eleven.

Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, is in poor form, especially on the road. The Colchoneros have won only three of their last eleven away games and lost six. At least the recent matches have been high-scoring—in the last nine league games, there have been at least five goals scored four times, including twice in the last four away matches.
