Lecce needs points in the relegation battle
A relegation thriller kicks off Matchday 35 of the Italian Serie A. The Pisa vs. Lecce match is set to take place at the Arena Garibaldi; a bet on the hosts is rewarded by bookmakers with a German license with odds of 3.15.
While the visitors still have a realistic chance of avoiding relegation, the Nerazzurri’s ship has essentially already sailed. It would take a minor miracle to prevent relegation at this point. A win on Friday is an absolute must.
However, the Black-and-Blues have managed only two wins from their first 34 games of the season. With an additional twelve draws, the home team has 18 points, which currently puts them in last place in the standings. They are already eleven points behind safety with four games remaining. Now, only wins can help Pisa Sporting Club make the impossible possible.
The visitors from Apulia currently occupy the first non-relegation spot. They have secured maximum points seven times so far. Add to that eight draws, bringing their total to 29 points. Their toughest competitor in the battle against relegation is US Cremonese.
Pisa – Lecce Head-to-Head Record
In Serie A, the two teams have faced each other seven times so far. With two wins for each team, the record is even. Across all competitions, there have been 17 matches. With seven wins to five losses, the Wolves have the edge here. In the first leg, the Yellow-Reds narrowly prevailed 1-0. This means Lecce has won three of the last four encounters. In Pisa, the hosts have won two of the last three head-to-head matches. In six of the last seven competitive matches between the two teams, fewer than 2.5 goals were scored.

Pisa – Lecce Prediction
For last year’s promoted side, the Serie A adventure is very likely to come to a quick end. After 34 matchdays, the home team is all but certain to be relegated. They have won only one of their last ten games. In the other nine, the “Torri” came away empty-handed. Most recently, they suffered five consecutive losses. The problems are manifold. With 61 goals conceded, no other team has had to fish the ball out of their own net more often. The offense, too, has managed only 24 goals, the third-worst tally in the league. Those are numbers that won’t cut it in Serie A. Top scorer Moreo has found the net six times so far.
The visitors are fighting to stay in the league, but have struggled to impress in recent weeks. After four consecutive losses, they’ve at least celebrated two partial successes recently. They secured two draws against Fiorentina (1-1) and in Verona (0-0), and since the competition at the bottom of the table isn’t really picking up points either, the “Lupi” are managing to stay afloat. The Giallorossi’s Achilles’ heel is their toothless attack. They’ve only put the ball in the net 22 times. No other team has found the back of the net less often. The defense’s record looks much better by comparison. With 46 goals conceded, they’re ranked 14th in that statistic.
To kick off Matchday 35, two of the weakest attacking teams face off. We certainly don’t expect a goal fest. In the first half of the season, fans had only one goal to cheer about. We wouldn’t be surprised if this result repeats itself.
In the three-way market, we’re leaning toward the visitors. Given the standings, we see the Yellow-Reds as having the greater motivation. Therefore, between Pisa and Lecce, at odds of 2.52, betting on an away win is a solid alternative.
