Will Real remain undefeated at home?
José Mourinho was supposed to restore the Royals to their former glory, but as I write this Real Madrid vs. Sevilla tip, league-leading Barcelona has already pulled six points ahead of the Madrid side. And this after just eight games into the new season. Consequently, the team from the Spanish capital is under pressure heading into Matchday 9.
Given the already significant gap behind their archrivals, the Royals can’t afford another slip-up. But if my Real Madrid vs. Sevilla prediction is any indication, Real fans don’t need to worry on that front. That’s because both of their league losses this season came on the road, while the Blancos have dominated every single game at home in the Bernabéu. Plus, Sevilla FC—a favorite opponent from the recent past—is coming to town.
In any case, I expect the Madrid side to handle the upcoming challenge at their home stadium, the Bernabéu. After an unusually low-scoring performance in their last home league match against Villarreal, I’m expecting a few goals this time around from the Royals’ star-studded offense.
Real Madrid – Sevilla Head-to-Head Record
It’s a clear-cut story when it comes to the head-to-head record between the two teams. Real Madrid has won 95 of the 171 matches, while Sevilla has managed only 46 victories. There have also been 30 draws. The picture becomes even clearer when it comes to home games at the Bernabéu. In the 86 matches played in Madrid so far, Real has come out on top a total of 65 times (65-12-9).
Furthermore, the Royals have now gone 19 games unbeaten against the Andalusians. As expected, the bookmakers’ odds for Real Madrid vs. Sevilla suggest that the Rojiblancos will once again be a welcome guest in the Spanish capital this coming Sunday.

Real Madrid – Sevilla Prediction
New coach, old worries—even under José Mourinho, the Blancos’ star-studded squad hasn’t yet fully hit its stride. Leading the way is Vinicius Junior, who has been a shadow of his former self in recent weeks and will now miss the match against Sevilla following his bizarre red card in the last league game.
Still, the Bernabéu has once again become a fortress under The Special One. The Blancos have won every home league match under the flamboyant Portuguese coach.
With a win and a potential slip-up by Barcelona against Sevilla’s city rival Betis, the Clásico on the next matchday would also take on added significance. Since their upcoming opponent has shown significant defensive vulnerabilities against the league’s top teams so far, I also expect the Royals to score a few goals, as Los Blancos are averaging an xG of 2.5 per game this La Liga season.
Sevilla FC is in surprisingly good shape heading into the ninth matchday of La Liga. The record Europa League champions have already earned 14 points and sit in fifth place in Spain’s top division. Without wishing to downplay the performance of Luis Garcia’s team so far, it’s worth taking a closer look at their record to date.
While the Andalusians have primarily picked up points against teams from the bottom half of the table, the two heavy defeats against Barça and Atlético Madrid showed that the Rojiblancos currently cannot keep up with the absolute top teams in Spain. In both matches, they also conceded three goals, which underscores their defensive vulnerability against opponents at the highest level.
