Will the Karlsruhe native make it to the grand final?
Every two years, Yannick Hanfmann puts on a great show in Kitzbühel. In 2024, he reached the semifinals here, just as he did in 2022. And in 2020, the Karlsruhe native was even the most recent finalist at the Austrian clay-court tournament to date, although he lost the final 0-2 to Miomir Kecmanovic.
If Yannick Hanfmann’s bet on a victory for the 34-year-old against Quentin Halys pays off, he’ll have another chance six years later in Tyrol to win his very first singles title on the ATP Tour. Interestingly, he’ll now face Quentin Halys, another unseeded player who has also remained undefeated without dropping a set.
The German continues to be carried through the tournament by his strong serving game. Against Sebastián Báez in the quarterfinals, he did face four break points in his 2-0 victory (6-3, 6-1)—one more than he faced in the first two rounds combined. But the Karlsruhe native showed nerves of steel in fending off all four break points. Nevertheless, when predicting the outcome of Yannick Hanfmann’s match against Quentin Halys, it’s important to note that the 29-year-old Frenchman serves with similar power.
Consequently, it could be a close match. Given that Quentin Halys has won both of his previous matches against the German 2-0, we believe it makes sense to bet on the Frenchman with a +1.5-set handicap; he reached the final of the US Open junior singles in 2014.
So far, both players have remained undefeated without dropping a single set in the tournament. However, in a matchup between two strong servers who are very much on equal footing, it could be time for both of their winning streaks to come to an end. There’s also good value in this clash between two unseeded semifinalists in betting that the match will go the full distance of three sets.

The 2020 finalist most recently didn’t give 2023 overall champion Sebastián Báez a chance in the quarterfinals, eliminating one of the favorites to win the tournament in just 79 minutes with a straight-set victory of 2–0 (6–3, 6–1).
The top bookmakers therefore see him as the favorite, although the run by Quentin Halys—who defeated the Monegasque player Valentin Vacherot, who is very skilled on clay, 2-0 in the round of 16 and also remained undefeated without dropping a set—is no less impressive.
Against this backdrop, we expect a close, evenly matched contest in which the players’ form on the day is likely to play a role. Since the odds favor the German, but we consider the underdog bet a bit too risky, we’re taking the middle ground and placing a positive handicap of +1.5 sets on the Frenchman.
