Crisis duel at Ibrox!
“Not another Belgian team,” is what people in Glasgow will be thinking when they look at their next opponent: The Gers recently faced Club Brugge in the qualifiers and suffered a completely desolate 6-0 away defeat after a home defeat.
The hosts are currently performing unusually poorly, not only on the international stage, but also in the domestic Premier League. After five rounds of play, they are sensationally ranked second to last in the twelve-team league and are still waiting for their first win of the season! In light of this persistent poor form on the part of coach Russell Martin’s team, a draw between Glasgow Rangers and Genk seems promising despite the home advantage for the Scots.
Moreover, the currently offensively weak home team is unlikely to score more than one goal. Looking back at their last five competitive games in the league and Champions League qualifiers, they have scored no more than two goals and failed to score three times.
Glasgow Rangers – Genk Head-to-head record
The teams are facing each other for the first time. For Genk, it is also their first game against a Scottish opponent in a European competition. The Belgians are also unbeaten in their last three games against teams they have faced for the first time in a major European competition (2-1-0).

Glasgow Rangers – Genk Tip
Rangers have won four of their last five opening games in the Europa League – the only exception being a 2-0 home defeat to Lyon in September 2021. Currently, however, the hosts appear to be extremely unsettled.
The Scottish record champions are languishing at the bottom of their domestic league table, and it seems that the two defeats in the Champions League qualifiers against Bruges, conceding a whopping nine goals, have left the team traumatized. Against this backdrop, we believe that the Glasgow Rangers vs. Genk betting odds suggest a draw is likely.
This is also supported by the fact that the visitors traditionally play consistently in this competition. Although this is Genk’s first participation in the Europa League since the 2021/22 season, that season was the only one in which the “Smurfs” failed to survive the group stage of the competition.
What’s more, KRC has won its first game without conceding a goal in four of its five previous appearances in this competition! However, as with their upcoming opponents, their form could be described as having room for improvement at the moment: in the domestic Jupiler League, German coach Thorsten Fink’s team has only managed to collect as many points after eight rounds of play. As a result, they currently occupy a disappointing third-to-last place in the national league.
