Will the Blue Wave make soccer history?

Another highly exotic name could now be added to the list, as Curacao is one point ahead of Jamaica in first place in Group B of the third round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers. If Jamaica’s tip for a home win against Curacao does not come true, the soccer miracle would be complete and the Blue Wave would qualify for a World Cup for the first time in its young history (Curacao replaced the Netherlands Antilles national team in September 2010).

Such a triumph for the Blue Family would not come completely out of the blue. In 2017, Curacao won the Caribbean Championship. In 2019, the Blue Wave even reached the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup. Nevertheless, they still have to survive a tricky away game in Kingston, which will once again require a solid defensive performance. We expect the visitors to park the bus in their own penalty area at Independence Park and wait for counterattacks. In this context, there is much to suggest that it will not be a high-scoring match, which is why our main tip is for under 2.5 goals. After all, both nations have conceded only three goals in total in their five games so far.

Although several Curacao players are under contract in the Netherlands, the Jamaican squad has significantly more quality, with its most important players active in major teams in the English Premier League. We believe the Reggae Boyz are capable of winning at home and qualifying directly for the 2026 World Cup, but we expect coach Steve McClaren’s team to face a test of patience.

Jamaica – Curacao Head-to-head record

Head to head: 2 – 1 – 2

Five international matches have been played between the two nations so far, with two wins each and one draw, making the head-to-head record completely even. In the first leg, Curacao won 2-0 against Jamaica in front of their home crowd in Willemstad.

Jamaica – Curacao Tip

Basically, our prediction for Jamaica vs. Curacao leans toward the Reggae Boyz, who in principle have the necessary quality in their squad to catch up with the Blue Family with a home win. However, the Blue Wave already celebrated a convincing 2-0 victory over the Jamaican team in the first leg. The Curacao national soccer team also remained unbeaten in all five games in Group B of the third qualifying round (three wins, two draws) and, like the Jamaicans, conceded only three goals in those five games.

Although the Reggae Boyz will be forced to go all-in at some point, which would open up space for counterattacks, we don’t think a high-scoring match in Kingston is very likely. The tip for a maximum of two goals offers significantly greater value.
