Will the Catalans get back on track?

Espanyol Barcelona is definitely one of the surprise teams in the still young 2025/26 season. Manolo González’s team started the new season with 18 out of a possible 30 points and was mixing it up with the top teams in the race for European spots. However, they then suffered two defeats in a row, losing 2-1 at Alaves and 2-0 at home to Villarreal. If Espanyol Barcelona can win at home against Sevilla in their first game after the international break, they could continue their impressive start to the season.

The Andalusians, on the other hand, are still searching for consistency. After the Europa League record winners surprisingly beat FC Barcelona 4-1, they suffered three consecutive defeats before the Nervionenses went into the international break with a 1-0 home win over Osasuna. It is striking that the Barca game was the only one of Sevilla’s last seven La Liga games in which the Rojiblancos scored more than one goal. As high-scoring league games are also rare at Espanyol Barcelona, we recommend betting on under 2.5 goals in this Monday night game.

Last season was not particularly high-scoring between the two teams either. The first leg in Catalonia ended almost exactly 13 months ago on October 25, 2025, with a 0-2 home defeat, before the Periquitos managed a 1-1 draw in their last competitive game against Sevilla FC away in Andalusia. In both cases, our suggested bet on under 2.5 goals would have been successful.

Espanyol Barcelona – Sevilla Head-to-head record

Head to head: 52 – 33 – 83

A total of 168 matches have already taken place between the two teams, with Sevilla FC leading the head-to-head record very clearly with 83 wins. The Andalusians have not lost any of their last twelve competitive matches against the Catalans (eight wins, four draws) since a 1-3 defeat at Espanyol Barcelona on January 29, 2017.

Espanyol Barcelona – Sevilla Tip

The record clearly favors Sevilla FC, who are unbeaten in six away games at the RCDE Stadium (five wins, one draw). However, the Andalusians are not in particularly good form, having picked up two points less than the Catalans in the first twelve matchdays and struggling to score goals here and there. The Nervionenses have scored more than one goal in only one of their last seven La Liga games.

Because the Periquitos have also scored only one goal in their last two league games, but are quite strong at home and have won four of their seven La Liga home games (one draw, two defeats), the prediction for Espanyol Barcelona vs. Sevilla makes the most sense for a Monday night game that will not be too high-scoring.
