A low-scoring start to the year?

The home side are hoping to finally get back to winning ways after seven games without a victory in the league (0-4-3).

The double burden of additional matches in the Conference League has clearly overwhelmed coach Iñigo Pérez’s squad in recent weeks. Now they face another shaky opponent in Getafe.

The visitors ended last year with three consecutive defeats and were particularly disappointing from an offensive perspective. All three defeats were accompanied by a clean sheet for their respective opponents. The team’s uncertainty is also reflected in their early exit from the Copa del Rey against second division side Burgos CF in their penultimate competitive game.

However, the home side find goals equally overrated, especially in games in front of their own fans. They have scored only four goals in seven home games this season – the second-worst record in the Spanish top flight! In this clash between two weak attacking lines, which have scored the fewest league goals this season after Oviedo, the Rayo Vallecano vs. Getafe prediction of a maximum of one goal seems likely.

Furthermore, we expect the points to be shared, as we believe the teams are currently at a similarly low level. This additional prediction is backed up by the statistics: the majority (5) of the last eight league matches have also ended in a draw!

Rayo Vallecano – Getafe Head-to-head record

From a statistical point of view, last season’s eighth-placed team will be looking forward to facing Getafe. Rayo has not lost to “Geta” in eight matches (3-5-0). Furthermore, the visitors have not won (0-2-2) or scored in their last four away games at Rayo.

For the upcoming match between Rayo Vallecano and Getafe, the odds once again give the home side a slight advantage.

Rayo Vallecano – Getafe Tip

Rayo’s home games have been stingy with goals this season: none of the seven games played in front of their own fans this season have ended with more than two goals! The reason for the lack of goals on their own turf is a combination of a harmless attack and a stable defense.

As a result, the Franjirrojos have scored just 1.1 goals per home game – the lowest average in LaLiga. To make matters worse, Jorge de Frutos, the club’s top scorer in league competition, is currently sidelined with an injury.

However, the visitors have also been struggling in attack recently. They have been waiting for their next goal and points for three games. In our opinion, it is therefore likely to be a tough game at the Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas, and the Rayo Vallecano vs. Getafe betting odds of just one goal seem promising.

This is also supported by the statistics from recent encounters: only in two of the last seven matches between the two clubs has the selected goal limit been exceeded, with an average of just 0.71 goals scored!
