Battered hosts invite Galicians to dance

On matchday 19 of La Liga, the record champions of the Europa League welcome a Celta Vigo side in fine form to the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. After a recent lack of results, it is essential for Matias Almeyda’s team to get back to winning ways. In the league, they are well below their own expectations with only one win in their last five games, and in the cup, they suffered a bitter defeat against Deportivo Alaves before Christmas.

However, it will not be easy for the Rojiblancos against the seventh-placed team. The Galicians are currently in impressive form and have picked up ten points from their last four league games. Claudio Giraldez’s team is also the fourth-best away team in the league. Only Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Villarreal have picked up more points on the road this season. The hosts, on the other hand, are one of the weaker home teams in the standings.

The reason for the Andalusians’ acute results crisis can definitely be found in their offense. With 24 goals from 19 games, Matias Almeyda has a pretty decent attack at his disposal, but recently the ball has not been finding its way into the net.

In four of their last six games, the Rojiblancos have failed to score, and their fans have now been waiting over 270 minutes for their team to find the back of the net. The prediction for Sevilla vs. Celta Vigo is therefore that at least one of the two teams will fail to score.

To make matters worse, the Andalusians are also struggling with injuries. Gabriel Suazo, Alfon González, César Azpilicueta, and Marcao are currently out with injuries. Furthermore, Chidera Ejuke and Akor Adams, the team’s top scorer, are currently at the Africa Cup of Nations. At least Ruben Vargas should be back in the matchday squad. However, after almost two months out, it is unlikely that the Swiss player will be back in top form straight away.

One player who has recently regained his old strength is Borja Iglesias. After almost two months without scoring in the league, Celta Vigo’s star striker scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season with a brace in last weekend’s 4-1 win over Valencia. With eleven goals in all competitions, he has already equaled his tally from last season and is therefore a hot candidate to score in Andalusia as well. With attractive odds being offered for the 32-year-old to score in Sevilla vs. Celta Vigo, it is definitely worth placing a bet on him.

Sevilla – Celta Vigo Head-to-head record

In a direct comparison, the Andalusians have a slight edge with eleven wins from the last 28 encounters. However, Matias Almeyda’s team has only won one of the last six encounters. The last game also ended in a victory for the Galicians.

Sevilla – Celta Vigo Tip

The Rojiblancos, who are in crisis and plagued by injuries, face a difficult task on matchday 19.

Against the in-form Galicians, who are the fourth-best away team in the league, it is therefore unlikely that they will manage to pick up any points.

In fact, it is questionable whether the Andalusians, who have not scored in their last three games, will manage to score at all. Borja Iglesias, who scored twice last weekend, is certainly capable of doing so.
