Can Barcelona pull off a sensation?

On Tuesday, the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final between FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will take place. The Catalans are under particular pressure, as after losing 4-0 in the first leg, their chances of reaching the final are almost zero. We have deliberately chosen the word “almost” here, because if Barca play themselves into a frenzy, we could witness one of the greatest comebacks in soccer. Fans of the home team fondly remember the comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. In 2017, the current La Liga leaders came back from a 4-0 deficit to win 6-5. In our Barcelona vs. Atlético Madrid prediction, we will now take a look at whether a similar scenario is really realistic.

As a small comparison: in the match between Real Madrid and Getafe (02.03.2026), we get odds of 11.00 (!) for a win for the away team. The bookies therefore consider a comeback by Barca to be more realistic than a “simple” win for the Azulones. We would not agree with that at this point in our analysis. Before we make a judgment, let’s take a closer look at the two teams.

We’ll start with the home and away records and come to the following conclusion: Barca is very likely to win the second leg. Hansi Flick’s team has won 16 of 17 home games this season, losing only to reigning Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain. The Catalans have scored 54 goals (average 3.18) and conceded only eleven. On average, the home team wins 3-1. If we also take into account that the visitors have only won eight of 20 away games (40%), there is a lot to be said for a Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid tip on a home win. With maximum odds of 1.52, this betting tip even has some value. But maybe we’ll stumble across an even better bet in our analysis – stay tuned!

Barcelona – Atletico Madrid Head-to-head record / H2H balance

Nothing has changed in terms of the distribution of roles, as the Catalans also have the upper hand in the head-to-head comparison. Barca won 103 of the 227 games and “only” lost 71 times. In the recent past, it has become even clearer, as with seven wins from the last ten encounters, the Madrid team has rarely been able to score points. So perhaps it’s not such a big surprise that the Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid betting odds for a comeback are relatively low.

Barcelona – Atletico Madrid Tip

We’ve already talked about the Catalans’ home strength, and here’s another reason why a home win is to be expected in this match. Hansi Flick’s team is one of the strongest in the world, winning 21 of their last 25 competitive games. By comparison, the visitors have won “only” 15 games in the same period. Barca are not only stronger than the Colchoneros individually, but also have home advantage, the head-to-head record and the form comparison on their side.

The only thing going for the Madrid team is the 4-0 lead from the first leg. However, this comfortable lead could also lead to problems, as some of the Madrid players may feel too confident. We therefore expect a clear home win and recommend the Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid betting tip for a home team win with a handicap of -1.

As an alternative to a win or a handicap win for the home team, we also have a goal bet on offer for you. Barca will have to take an extremely high risk and score at least four goals to force extra time. In addition, the Catalans’ home games average 3.82 goals per game, so even without the significant deficit, we can expect to see plenty of goals. Last but not least, a total of 23 goals (average 4.6) have been scored in the last five matches between the two teams. Whatever the outcome of the game, it will certainly not be a low-scoring affair.
