Dortmund’s results-oriented players are out for revenge!

Rarely has an away win in the Bundesliga been more undeserved than last Saturday’s. Without a single shot on goal, Borussia Dortmund scraped through to stoppage time at VfB Stuttgart before super-subs Karim Adeyemi and Julian Brandt successfully finished off two counterattacks for a 2-0 triumph.

Once again, it was pure pragmatism and Kovac-style soccer par excellence that helped BVB secure three points, likely silencing even the last doubters regarding their designated runner-up finish. On Saturday afternoon, a bet on Black and Yellow is also highly favored in the match between Dortmund and Leverkusen!

In a sense, the second-place team is likely to be seeking revenge as well. In the DFB Cup, Dortmund lost 0-1 at home to Leverkusen, thereby throwing away a real chance at the title rather carelessly. In the Bundesliga, however, things are going exceptionally well for the Black and Yellows. Following the home loss to Bayern, which ultimately decided the championship race, Kovac’s team has already celebrated four consecutive wins, underscoring the impressive consistency in their performances.

Alternatively, the odds on over goals should be considered for the Dortmund vs. Leverkusen match. After all, two of the country’s top three offenses are facing off. Borussia has already scored 60 goals, while Bayer 04 has 58. In the last two matches alone involving the 2024 double winners, 15 (!) goals were scored. Reason enough to hope for and bet on a high-scoring game.

BVB vs. Leverkusen AI Prediction

The BVB vs. Leverkusen AI prediction aligns with the bookmakers’ assessments. Dortmund are clear favorites, reflected in a nearly 50% probability of victory. Bookmakers and artificial intelligence also agree on the total goals after 90 minutes: at least three goals in the match are a given! Without considering value, the AI therefore settles on Over 2.5, for which you can get odds of 1.50 at ODDSET.

Dortmund – Stats & Current Form

Borussia Dortmund is truly having a championship season. Only twice has BVB had more points in the Bundesliga at this stage—six matchdays before the end. Due to Bayern’s dominance, the 2025/26 season will nevertheless definitely end without a title for coach Niko Kovac’s team.

However, anyone who believed that the bitter elimination from the UEFA Champions League against Atalanta Bergamo or the Bundesliga home loss to FC Bayern would lead to a slump due to a lack of motivation is mistaken.

Following the aforementioned defeat in the German classic, the Black and Yellows—despite some disappointing performances—won all four league matches and therefore remain in excellent form.

Dortmund’s offense aims to score twice in the Bundesliga for the 15th consecutive time

In my view, the odds on a home win between Dortmund and Leverkusen look promising again this Saturday. After all, Borussia has won eleven of its 14 home games this season, scoring well over two goals per match and conceding—along with the league leaders from Munich—the fewest goals (14).

BVB has scored in 36 consecutive Bundesliga matches; in 14 straight Bundesliga matches, they’ve even managed at least two goals of their own. If this strong streak continues this weekend, there’s a strong case to be made that Borussia will also emerge victorious in their home match against Leverkusen.

However, they’ll have to do so without Karim Adeyemi, who received a yellow card after his winning goal against Stuttgart and is suspended. With the confidence from ten wins in their last twelve league matches and the fans behind them, I still think the Dortmund vs. Leverkusen odds of 1.98 for a home win are absolutely worth a bet!

Leverkusen – Stats & Current Form

Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s goal is actually to qualify for the Champions League year after year. Currently, however, the management team led by Simon Rolfes and Fernando Carro must worry about their participation in Europe’s top competition. Sitting sixth in the table, the 2024 German champions are four points behind the top four. As things stand, Leverkusen—who, according to rumors, are set for another coaching change this summer—would have to settle for the Europa League.

Leverkusen’s results have been all over the map

Although the team from Leverkusen has gone six Bundesliga matches without a loss, they’ve won only two of those. In addition, there were four draws, including matches in Heidenheim (3-3), Freiburg (1-1), and at home against Mainz 05 (1-1). Time and again, however, the Werkself—which underwent a complete overhaul in the summer—has struggled with slumps, lapses in concentration, and a lack of consistency.

Another cause for concern is the high number of goals conceded by the sixth-place team recently. They gave up three against relegation-threatened VfL Wolfsburg and another three against bottom-of-the-table Heidenheim. They have kept a clean sheet in only two of their last ten competitive matches. In their last four Bundesliga matches, Leverkusen has a goal difference of 13:10. On average, that’s nearly four (!) goals per match. For this reason, among others, I’m also predicting that BVB will score in both halves of the Dortmund vs. Leverkusen match. ODDSET is offering a generous 2.45 for this.

Dortmund – Leverkusen Head-to-Head Record

Borussia Dortmund has not won a home league match against Bayer 04 Leverkusen in three attempts. They even lost the last two matches at Signal Iduna Park, including the aforementioned DFB Cup match in the winter of 2025 (0-1).

However, there have never been three consecutive home losses or four consecutive competitive matches without a win in front of a home crowd against Leverkusen in Dortmund’s history!

The first leg in the Bundesliga ended with a 2-1 away win for the Black and Yellows at the BayArena. It was also the fifth league match in a row in which both teams scored at least once. Three times in a row, the Over 2.5 would have come through. For Saturday, I again consider three or more goals in the match to be extremely likely.

BVB – Leverkusen Tip

For Borussia Dortmund, the last six matchdays are primarily of a statistical nature. Second place is firmly cemented, and there’s no room for improvement at the top either. Significantly more pressure rests on the visitors from the Rhineland, who currently have to settle for sixth place and need a strong finish to still reach the top four.

Despite last week’s 6-3 win over Wolfsburg, the Werkself remains something of a mixed bag, struggling with several issues—especially defensively. Conceding six goals against the second-to-last and last-place teams in the standings is emblematic of these shortcomings in their defensive play.

Now Hjulmand’s men travel to face the league’s second-strongest home team, which has only lost to FC Bayern and is incredibly good at somehow pulling close games in their favor. The fact that Leverkusen will likely adopt a possession-based approach should also play into the Black-and-Yellows’ hands.
