Will the Reds flex their muscles once again?
1. FC Cologne has won only one of its last 13 league games (six draws, six losses), which is why there was a coaching change down the stretch of the season. Mathematically, however, their survival is already a done deal, so they can plan for another year in the Bundesliga.
So the Cologne side can actually play with a sense of freedom against FC Bayern Munich. But if the Billy Goats on the Isar literally take it easy and play too passively, there could very well be another debacle. That makes a bet on a Munich rout in the Bayern vs. Cologne match all the more interesting.
For Bayern, everything has recently been subordinated to the Champions League. In the league, the stars mostly didn’t play at all or only for a maximum of one half. Now, however, FCB has only the cup final ahead of them, for which they can spend a whole week recovering.
We therefore expect the best possible lineup, which leads us to predict a very clear home victory for the German record champions in Bayern vs. Cologne. While Cologne has managed just three clean sheets, Munich has scored in all 33 league games and netted a historic 117 goals—already the undisputed all-time season record for a Bundesliga club. We therefore recommend the handicap bet (-2) on the Reds.
It’s also conceivable that Harry Kane, who hasn’t had too many opportunities in the Bundesliga recently due to load management, will step it up once again to further boost his current goal tally of 33. The odds available for a brace by the Brit in Bayern vs. Cologne are particularly interesting.
Bayern vs. Cologne AI Prediction
In fact, the bookmakers’ odds are so one-sided that the AI once again senses value in betting on the Billy Goats to earn a point. Consequently, for Bayern vs. Cologne, the AI prediction targets the Double Chance X2, for which odds of 5.70 are available in the Betano app.
This translates to a probability of 17.5 percent. The AI, in turn, estimates Cologne’s chance of earning a point on the Isar at 20.4 percent. That is even significantly higher than the value implied by the odds and, surprisingly, results in a positive expected value.
Bayern – Statistics & Current Form
Although FC Bayern Munich ultimately couldn’t hold their own against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, they are at least heading toward a historic Bundesliga season. With 86 points after 33 matchdays, the Munich side is having its third-best season ever. Only the 2012/13 (88 points) and 2013/14 (87) seasons were more successful.
In addition, Bayern could finish a full Bundesliga season with just one loss for the third time ever. Offensively, too, the record champions are performing at a historic level. With 117 goals, they already have the best offense in Bundesliga history, and Bayern is the only team in the league to have scored in every single match of the 2025/26 season.
Bayern doesn’t let falling behind throw them off course
Particularly noteworthy is their mentality after falling behind. The Munich side has earned 29 points after trailing. That is a new Bundesliga record, previously achieved only by Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the 1999/2000 season. Even in difficult matches, Bayern regularly found solutions, which is why, despite high odds, we cannot go along with the AI’s suggested bet on the Geißböcke earning a point in the Bayern vs. Cologne match.
The men from the Isar were also dangerous on set pieces. Since detailed data collection began in 2004/05, only Borussia Dortmund has surpassed 32 set-piece goals, doing so once in 2013/14 (34). At the same time, however, Bayern conceded 43 percent of their goals from set pieces (15 out of 35)—the same high percentage as their opponents from Cologne.

Cologne – Statistics & Current Form
It is certainly a positive that survival is already a done deal. But the full truth is that this is due to the snail’s-pace race between Heidenheim, St. Pauli, and Wolfsburg. Otherwise, 1. FC Köln would certainly have much more to worry about. Just one win in their last 13 Bundesliga matches (six draws, six losses) underscores the difficult phase Effzeh is going through. With 32 points after 33 matchdays, the team from Cologne statistically ranks among the weakest 14th-place finishers in the entire three-point era.
Especially on the road, things have barely been going right for months. Since the 1-0 win at TSG Hoffenheim in early October, Effzeh has gone winless in twelve consecutive Bundesliga away games (six draws, six losses)—currently the longest ongoing streak in the league. Accordingly, it is unlikely that the bet on a turnaround for the Geißböcke will pay off in the Bayern vs. Cologne match of all matches.
Cologne is too vulnerable on set pieces
Defensively, there are clear problems with set pieces. 25 goals conceded from set pieces is the league high and also a new club record since detailed data collection began in 2004/05. Overall, the Effzeh managed only three clean sheets all season.
Despite the difficult season, Cologne remained a relatively consistent threat offensively. The Effzeh failed to score just four times this Bundesliga season. In fact, the last time the club had so few scoreless games in the top flight of German soccer was in 1983/84. However, the lack of stability after taking the lead remains a problem: 22 points squandered is the second-worst figure in the league behind VfL Wolfsburg.

Bayern – Cologne Head-to-Head Record
Head to Head: 60 – 24 – 24
A total of 108 competitive matches have already taken place between these two historic clubs, and with 60 wins, FC Bayern Munich clearly leads the head-to-head record.
The Reds have already secured two wins against 1. FC Köln in the 2025/26 season – both away at Müngersdorf, where a 4-1 victory in the second round of the DFB Cup was followed by a 3-1 away win in the Bundesliga first leg. Overall, the FCB has now gone 22 competitive matches without a loss against the Effzeh (20 wins, two draws).
Bayern – Cologne Prediction
Clearly and unequivocally, the betting odds from top bookmakers for Bayern vs. Cologne favor Kompany’s side, which could push its tally to a historic 89 points and, moreover, raise the bar for Bundesliga goals scored in a single season yet again.
The 117 goals are already a new record. Unlike the AI, we find few reasons to doubt a rout by Munich, who now host a team that has kept a clean sheet on only three of 33 matchdays, is defensively vulnerable, has won just one of its last 13 league games (six draws, six losses), and most recently even slipped up at home against bottom-of-the-table Heidenheim (1-3), and are already safely clear of relegation on the final matchday.
Against this backdrop, we expect that a Munich starting lineup—which may already be warming up with its best players for the upcoming cup final—will flex its muscles one last time in the strong 2025/26 Bundesliga season. We expect a big win for the Reds and recommend betting on a home victory for Bayern against Cologne with a margin of at least three goals.
