Will host Switzerland remain undefeated?
A rocky start meets a dream start in our Germany vs. Switzerland tip for Monday night (8:20 PM in Zurich). The German team lost both its opening matches against Finland and Latvia and needs to start racking up wins soon if it doesn’t want to lose sight of its goal of reaching the quarterfinals.
But against the hosts, that won’t be easy—if not impossible. Cheered on by the crowd in Zurich, the Swiss have won their first two games decisively, including a victory over the U.S. team, the reigning champions.
Offensively, they’ve already scored seven goals, while the DEB team has managed just one. That’s likely to be Germany’s problem area again on Monday, where the absence of Draisaitl, Stützle, and Peterka simply can’t be made up for. On top of that, key players like Kai Wissmann are having an absolutely dismal World Championship.
Bets on Switzerland are available here in all shapes and sizes. Switzerland -0.5 in the first period, Over 3.5 goals by the Swiss, or our favorite: Switzerland to win + Over 4.5 total goals. Because even though Germany has been lackluster offensively so far, we still think they’re capable of scoring at least one goal (more likely two).
Germany – Switzerland Head-to-Head Record
Four of the last five matchups went to Switzerland, with them averaging 3.8 goals in those games. Now on home ice, we believe they can score those four goals again, making a win highly likely.
It’s hard to imagine Germany managing that many goals, given their lackluster early performances. A meager 17 shots on goal against Finland were followed by 25 against Latvia, though they were considered the clear favorites (not by us) going into that game.
So for Germany vs. Switzerland, the betting odds on Switzerland are highly recommended here. We would even consider bets on Switzerland -1.5 to be an excellent play.
Germany – Switzerland Tip
Some experts had high hopes for the DEB team before the World Championship, but we were more skeptical. The best players are missing, some are just coming off the DEL Finals series, and the top young talents are also absent from the roster (only one player under 24).
In contrast, Switzerland’s roster looks quite different with Josi, Moser, Hischier, and Meier—both in terms of top talent and depth. Therefore, for Germany vs. Switzerland, our clear betting recommendation is Switzerland + Over 4.5 total goals.
Alternatively, goal bets on Timo Meier are viable, as is a slightly higher handicap. A team that can defeat the USA by a two-goal margin should be able to do the same against a German team that appears mentally and physically fatigued.
