Will Big Ben continue his winning streak?

Big Ben secured his third singles title of the 2026 ATP Tour season on Sunday in Stuttgart, making history in the process. At just 23 years old, the Atlanta native has now won a title on all four ATP surface types—clay, indoor and outdoor hard courts, and now grass. As a result, the odds are in the American’s favor for his next victory against Nick Kyrgios, even though his challenger can certainly be described as a wild card.

Admittedly, the “enfant terrible” from Down Under has slipped to No. 899 in the ATP world rankings. In fact, the 31-year-old—who possesses one of the strongest serves on the ATP Tour, which is a massive factor on grass—reached the final of the Wimbledon Championships in the summer of 2022. However, when predicting the outcome of Ben Shelton vs. Nick Kyrgios, one must also take into account that the Australian—who has been repeatedly set back by persistent knee and wrist injuries over the past four years—has played in only two Grand Slam tournaments since then.

Although Nick Kyrgios—who nearly became a professional basketball player and even stated in an interview a few years ago that he actually hates tennis—is certainly a candidate to put the in-form Ben Shelton in a bind due to his unpredictability, we ultimately find the greatest value in betting on a 2-0 victory for Big Ben.

It’s clear that the aggressive Australian is difficult to break on grass. For this very reason, however, the bookmakers consider the likelihood of a tiebreak to be so high that they’re offering high odds on the Ben Shelton vs. Nick Kyrgios match for bets that none of the sets in this first-round match will go to a tiebreak.

Ben Shelton – Nick Kyrgios Head-to-Head Record

Head-to-Head: 0:0

These two players have never faced each other in a ranked singles match on the ATP Tour. Consequently, there is no “head-to-head” data available that could influence our prediction for the Ben Shelton vs. Nick Kyrgios match in any way.

Ben Shelton – Nick Kyrgios Prediction

The Australian “enfant terrible” certainly has what it takes to shock the newly crowned Stuttgart champion upon his arrival in Halle. However, after a long hiatus, Nick Kyrgios is still searching for his rhythm, both physically and mentally.

Although he recently spoke of a “miracle recovery,” he also hinted that his priorities had shifted—whatever that may mean. While the 2022 Wimbledon finalist’s form is difficult to gauge, there’s every reason to believe that the in-form Ben Shelton will make short work of him.

The fact that bookmakers are offering odds of 1.95 for Ben Shelton to beat Nick Kyrgios 2-0 makes things pretty straightforward for us, because we’d actually assign a 60 to 65 percent probability to that exact 2-0 victory, meaning we can bet on it with a positive expected value. We’re betting four out of ten units.
