Will the Chiefs run out of steam at Denver’s altitude?
Our Broncos vs. Chiefs pick for Sunday night features a classic division showdown. Both teams have been battling for the top spot in the AFC West for decades—with Kansas City usually coming out on top in recent years. They also won the matchup on Week 1, though that game took place at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The Chiefs haven’t won in Denver since 2022.
We expect a very defense-oriented matchup, as has so often been the case in recent years. In the last seven meetings, the total of 41 points hasn’t been surpassed even once. Any mistake could decide the game, and the Broncos have been making mistakes a bit more frequently lately (6 turnovers to 5). So, for the Broncos vs. Chiefs matchup on Sunday, we’re predicting another nail-biter.
Kickoff for this AFC West thriller is Sunday at 10:25 p.m. in Denver. The game will be broadcast live on RTL and RTL+, as well as on the main Sky conference channel.
The Chiefs are the slight favorites, and if we had to pick a winner, we’d also put them ahead. Nevertheless, we don’t recommend betting on the winner here; instead, we suggest player bets (Kenneth Walker III) or betting on the under. The odds for the under 40.5 in Denver vs. Kansas City are surprisingly high.
Denver Broncos – Kansas City Chiefs Head-to-Head Record
We’ve already discussed the last matchup from Week 1. That game went quite decisively to Kansas City, 31–10. However, the Broncos hadn’t really gotten into the swing of the season yet at that point. Since then, both teams have lost only one game each.
Of the last ten matchups, six went to Kansas City, but three of the last five went to Denver. It’s difficult to pick a favorite based on these statistics. The Chiefs’ -1.5-point spread as favorites stems solely from their Game Day 1 match, and we’re actually going along with this slight favorite status.
Denver Broncos – Kansas City Chiefs Pick
It’s amazing how the Broncos currently manage to win their games somehow, despite quarterback Bo Nix’s lackluster play. The answer lies in their strong defense, a bit of luck, and head coach Sean Payton. However, since the Chiefs also have a strong defense (allowing just 17.2 points to the Broncos’ 20.1), this formula might not be enough on Sunday.
So, for Broncos vs. Chiefs, a bet on Kansas City is a possibility—but in our view, a bet on a touchdown by Kenneth Walker III is an even better play. We haven’t really discussed him much yet, but he’s taken the Chiefs’ running game to a whole new level and has already scored eight touchdowns in seven games this season.
So Walker III is our clear player bet in this matchup. On the Broncos’ side, we don’t see a running back or wide receiver who stands out here. However, the betting odds for a rushing touchdown by Bo Nix in Broncos vs. Chiefs are extremely high (up to 5.00), which we can use for an underdog bet.
