Will the ‘Black Stars’ shut out their opponents again?
Ghana kicked off the 2026 World Cup with a very lucky win over Panama. It wasn’t until the fifth minute of stoppage time that they scored the decisive goal against the Panamanian national team.
The victory over the “Canaleros” was hard-fought, as was the scoreless draw in the following match against England. However, the most recent draw against the “Three Lions” once again highlighted the team’s strong defense—the “Black Stars” have yet to concede a goal at the 2026 World Cup!
Croatia, along with their opponents from England, delivered the best group stage match so far in their opening group game. Even though Coach Zlatko Dalić’s team lost 2–4, it was, at least from an objective standpoint, very entertaining.
This was only partially true for the subsequent 1–0 victory over Panama, which fell more into the category of a hard-fought win. Given the Africans’ convincing defensive performances, we’re predicting a maximum of two goals in the match between Croatia and Ghana.

Croatia – Statistics & Current Form
Croatia is heading into the 2026 World Cup with a wealth of experience. With veteran players like Ivan Perisic, Mario Pasalic, and, of course, 40-year-old captain Luka Modric, the “Kockasti” are fielding what amounts to a sort of veterans’ team.
However, these names quickly make it clear that these veterans are simply too good to let age get the better of them. Furthermore, the Bundesliga—which, after the Premier League, is providing the most players for this World Cup anyway—is also strongly represented on the Croatian squad.
Igor Matanovic of Freiburg, a Europa League finalist, and Andrej Kramaric of Hoffenheim are both on the Croatian national team. Both players can look back on a strong season in Germany’s top flight, and the latter forward also belongs to the ranks of the aforementioned older players—who, however, show no signs of decline but instead present themselves as “best agers.”
Musa feels particularly at home in the U.S.
The World Cup opener was particularly emotional for Petar Musa: The striker plays club soccer for FC Dallas in the MLS, and the match against England took place in D-Town, of all places.
In his “hometown,” Musa was on hand to score a goal! With that goal, he once again proved his strong form.
In the MLS this season, he’s also been racking up goal after goal.
After 13 appearances, he has scored no fewer than a dozen goals! The former Benfica and Union Berlin player has clearly found his stride in Texas—he’s already recorded double-digit goal totals in Major League Soccer during his two previous seasons in D-Town!

Ghana – Statistics & Current Form
The Ghanaian team is making its fifth appearance at a World Cup and boasts a particularly strong offense. Among others, the squad features Antoine Semenyo, one of last season’s top strikers in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old scored 17 goals in the most recent Premier League season—and did so for two different teams! Semenyo transferred from Bournemouth to Manchester City during the winter break, and the striker immediately made his mark at the top club from the north.
Semenyo found the back of the net in four of his first five competitive matches for the “Cityzens.” Although his scoring efficiency dipped afterward, his exceptional talent remains beyond question.
Ayew is particularly efficient with the “Black Stars”
Moreover, Jordan Ayew has been a very reliable performer—at least on the national team. The forward seems to have found his happy place here after enduring a nightmare season at Leicester at the club level, which culminated in the “Foxes” being relegated from the Championship.
The brother of Andre Ayew—who holds the national team’s record with 120 appearances—scored a whopping seven goals in World Cup qualifying, making him his team’s top scorer. On top of that, he set up just as many goals for his teammates!
Furthermore, Samuel Yirenkyi, a promising youngster, is ready to make his mark. The 20-year-old from Nordsjaelland in the Danish Super League has found the back of the net in two of the last three international matches for Coach Otto Addo’s team!

Croatia – Ghana Head-to-Head Record
The Croatian national team and the “Black Stars” are facing off for the first time. For this upcoming debut match between Croatia and Ghana, the odds point toward a victory for the Europeans.
Croatia – Ghana Prediction
Croatia continues to amaze the soccer world: The small country on the Adriatic Sea reached the semifinals in each of the last two World Cup tournaments and even finished as World Cup runner-up in 2018!
Currently, advancing past the group stage seems highly likely. With three points, Croatia sits in third place, and their upcoming opponent is just one point behind.
Ghana, however, will once again rely on its strong defense in this match. The Africans—whose greatest World Cup achievement was reaching the quarterfinals in 2010—have yet to concede a goal, and most recently, they even held England’s offense—which scored four times against Croatia—to a scoreless draw.
We also expect Ghana to play defensively, given their position in the standings. Another draw would secure second place and thus a direct ticket to the next round.
The “Fiery Ones” led by captain Luka Modric will thus face a true defensive bulwark. Given this situation, betting on a maximum of two goals in the match between Croatia and Ghana is worth considering. Another factor supporting this prediction is that the Croatians, too, could likely be satisfied with a draw, as four points would almost certainly place them among the top eight third-place teams in the group and secure their spot in the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.
