Will the Catalans come out on top?

The hosts barely managed to avoid relegation last season. Now, sitting in 12th place just six points above the relegation zone, the Catalans are once again putting their fans’ nerves to the test.

One thing in the home team’s favor is that the visitors are arriving in shaky form. The Andalusians have been waiting for their next three points for seven league games now (0-5-2). This has worsened their position in the race for European spots, and the pressure on Coach Manuel Pellegrini’s team has noticeably increased.

Furthermore, the home team has at least been improving in front of their own fans recently: they’ve won three of their last four home league games.

This included a particularly strong home win in the Catalan derby against the league leaders from Barcelona. Given this situation, we are predicting a home win in the match between Girona and Betis Sevilla—including a draw as a safety net.

Furthermore, we do not expect the visiting 1935 Spanish champions to score more than one goal. The “Heliopolitanos” offense has rarely been effective on the road recently. Across all competitions, last year’s Conference League finalist has scored three goals in their last five away matches and has not once exceeded the selected goal threshold.

Girona – Betis Sevilla Head-to-Head Record

The “Blanquivermells” and Betis last faced each other in November of last year in Seville, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Thanks to the draw, the three-time Spanish Cup winner from Seville remains unbeaten in this matchup over the same number of encounters (1-2-0).

Furthermore, the past eight meetings have always ended with goals scored by both sides! For the upcoming clash between Girona and Betis Sevilla, the odds are now very evenly split.

Girona – Betis Sevilla Tip

With the season nearing its end, both teams are fighting for crucial points. “El Glorioso” aims to secure a spot in European competition, while the hosts are battling to avoid relegation.

The visitors have thus had the more successful season, but currently we view the home side as slightly stronger than the sixth-place team from last season’s top flight. Betis hasn’t won in seven matchdays and was eliminated from the Europa League last week.

In contrast, the Catalans have at least stabilized in front of their own fans. More than half (4) of their last six home matches ended in a home win, and even the league leaders from Barcelona recently had to admit defeat against their Catalan neighbors! With that in mind, we see sufficient value in the betting odds for a home win (DNB) in the match between Girona and Betis Sevilla!
