Will the Jvarosnebi find a way out of their slump?

Ahead of our Northern Ireland vs. Georgia prediction, the trend is very clear: While the Northern Irish squad remained undefeated and did not concede a single goal in their first three Nations League matches in Group B2, the Jvarosnebi (meaning “the Crusaders”) are not only waiting for their first win but also for their first goal.

Following the unfortunate 0–1 loss in the first leg against Northern Ireland, Willy Sagnol was also fired. Sagnol, who had been in the role since February 2021 and oversaw 57 international matches as Georgia’s coach, enjoyed legendary status. Among other achievements, he had led the country to EURO 2024, where they even made it to the round of 16.

His successor, Ramaz Svanadze—who had previously coached the Georgian U21 team—was also unable to resolve the current problems. A 0–0 draw at home against Ukraine was followed by another 0–1 loss in Hungary. Despite top-class individual talents like Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze, the Jvarosnebi’s offense seemed frozen in place.

Given that Northern Ireland’s defense has yet to concede a single goal, our Northern Ireland vs. Georgia prediction is for a low-scoring match. We recommend betting on under 2.5 goals at the Clearer Twist National Stadium at Windsor Park.

While the Georgians are in danger of sliding into a deep crisis and currently even face the prospect of relegation to League C of the UEFA Nations League, confidence in the Northern Irish camp could hardly be higher. The British are riding a wave of success and already have a three-point lead over second place.

Should they secure another home win against the unsettled Jvarosnebi, promotion to League A would suddenly become a realistic possibility—which would be a tremendous achievement for this small nation. Since Michael O’Neill has built a very solid defense that mercilessly capitalizes on transition opportunities, we consider another victory for Northern Ireland to be entirely realistic.

Northern Ireland – Georgia Head-to-Head Record

Head-to-Head: 2 – 0 – 0

Only two international matches have been played between the two nations, and Northern Ireland won both. After the British secured a 4–1 home victory over Georgia in a friendly in Belfast in March 2008, Northern Ireland also won the first and only competitive match. Exactly one week ago, a last-second goal (90+9) by Shea Charles was enough for Michael O’Neill’s squad to secure a 1–0 away victory in Tbilisi.

Northern Ireland – Georgia Prediction

On paper, the Georgian national soccer team has stronger individual talent. However, in the first three games, there was no cohesion on the field—rather, it looked like eleven individualists.

The pieces never meshed at any point, and even the hasty coaching change from legend Willy Sagnol to former U21 coach Ramaz Svanadze did nothing to change that. Even under the new coach, the team failed to secure a win or score its first goal of the 2026/27 Nations League in two international matches against Ukraine (0–0) and Hungary (0–1).

Things won’t get any easier for the Jvarosnebi, who now have to play on the road against the best defense in Group B2. Norn Iron has yet to concede a goal in three group matches and leads Group B2 with seven out of a possible nine points. This allows the hosts to once again play from a very compact defensive setup, letting the opponent come at them and waiting for counterattacking opportunities. Therefore, the match in Belfast is unlikely to be a high-scoring affair.
