Another goal-fest for Barca?

The old Sevilla is finally back. After four long years during which the club consistently finished in the bottom half of the table and even found itself in serious danger of relegation, the team seems to have rediscovered its form this summer and is once again a contender for European qualification spots. Heading into Matchday 7, the Andalusians have 13 points and currently sit in a strong fourth place. However, it’s doubtful whether this resurgence will be enough to warrant betting on the home team in the Sevilla vs. Barcelona match.

After all, the Catalans have also gotten off to a fantastic start to the new season and have six wins in as many games. Furthermore, Flick’s team’s outstanding offense has already hit its stride, scoring 28 goals—an average of nearly five goals per game. The visitors, who have also won eight of their last nine matchups against the Andalusians, therefore enter the clash against Luis Garcia’s team as clear favorites.

Nevertheless, the prediction for Sevilla vs. Barcelona is not to bet on the league leaders. As is typical with favorite picks, the odds offered are very low, and even the handicap bets offer little value.

What might be worth it, however, is placing a bet on the total goals in the Sevilla vs. Barcelona match. The Catalans have scored fewer than four goals in only one game this season so far, and on average, 6.66 goals have been scored in games involving Barça this season.

Furthermore, it’s safe to assume that it won’t just be Barça—who set a new La Liga xG record (6.65 xG) against Elche earlier this week—contributing to the goal fest. The home team, which has scored in every game this season so far, is also quite capable of netting at least one goal. The head-to-head record—which shows that in each of the last five meetings, both teams have scored at least one goal—also suggests betting on “both teams to score” at good odds for Sevilla vs. Barcelona.

It comes as no surprise that the Catalans have an outstanding offense and are always capable of scoring plenty of goals. Still, it was impossible to predict just how well this season would start. In particular, the fact that Robert Lewandowski’s departure wasn’t compensated for—or wasn’t until late—by the signing of Gabriel Jesus fueled doubts over the summer about just how potent the Spanish champions’ attack really is. One man, however, has particularly silenced the critics.

Raphinha, who moved to the center following the departure of the Polish superstar, clearly feels right at home in his new position and has scored eleven goals in seven competitive matches. On Wednesday, he once again turned heads with a hat trick against promoted Racing Santander, reaffirming his outstanding form.

Sevilla vs. Barcelona Head-to-Head Record

The head-to-head record speaks for itself, with the Catalans winning eight of the last nine matches. Nevertheless, caution is advised. In their last away game at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, FC Barcelona suffered a 1-4 defeat.

Sevilla – Barcelona Prediction

While Sevilla seems to have finally regained its former strength this season, it’s unlikely to stand a chance against the overwhelmingly dominant Catalans. However, since the odds for a favorite win in the Sevilla vs. Barcelona match are meager, you should still steer clear of betting on Flick’s team.

Instead, it might be worth betting on more than 3.5 goals in the match featuring the country’s best team by a wide margin. Additionally, bets on both teams scoring or Raphinha scoring a goal offer good chances of winning.
