Will Sascha clear the next hurdle after a shaky start?
Alexander Zverev narrowly avoided embarrassment in his opening match of the clay-court season. Against Cristian Garín (ATP 109), the German was already trailing 2-5 in the deciding set with the score tied at 1-1, before he actually managed an incredible comeback by winning five consecutive games.
Now he faces the world No. 47, who sent two established players—Adrian Mannarino and Andrey Rublev—home with 2-0 losses on the slow clay courts of the Principality of Monaco. This makes it all the more intriguing to consider whether betting on the supposed underdog in the Zizou Bergs vs. Alexander Zverev match is a viable option.
It’s clear that an Alexander Zverev in top form should generally come out on top even on the very slow clay court at the Monte Carlo Country Club, especially since the German number one loves the red clay. On no other surface does the Hamburg native boast such a high win rate (170:62 – 73.3 percent). And yet: The momentum and freshness certainly suggest that Zizou Bergs might be capable of a surprise. In our assessment, the most interesting approach for a Bergs vs. Zverev prediction is therefore to apply a +1.5-set handicap to the Belgian, which ultimately only rules out a clean 2-0 victory for Sascha.
Should Zizou Bergs—who most recently eliminated Andrey Rublev, the world No. 15, in a blistering 78-minute match with a 6-4, 6-1 score while successfully fending off seven of eight break points—actually win a set, we still believe the most likely outcome would be the world No. 3 from Germany advancing. Against Cristian Garín, too, Sascha ultimately managed to step it up late in the match to avert the looming defeat.
Those who aren’t afraid to take a risk can therefore bet on Zizou Bergs vs. Alexander Zverev via the Betano app at odds of 3.80 that the Hamburg native will secure another 2-1 victory.

Head-to-Head: 0-0

Zizou Bergs – Alexander Zverev Prediction
Generally speaking, our preference leans toward the world No. 3 from Germany, who has already won several major titles on clay and reached the semifinals twice on the slow clay courts of Monte Carlo in 2018 and 2022. However, an upset cannot be ruled out.
Of all major tournaments (including the four Grand Slams), Sascha actually has the lowest win rate here in the Principality (61 percent). Only in Shanghai has he recorded even fewer singles wins in his career (just 13 compared to 15 in Monaco), despite a 65 percent win rate, although the major tournament in China was also on hiatus for three consecutive years between 2020 and 2022 due to the pandemic.
Since we don’t rule out a surprise given the 26-year-old Belgian’s two outstanding performances, our main recommendation is to place a +1.5-set handicap bet on the supposed underdog, which would cover not only a 1-2 loss to the German but also any victory. Bet-at-home is offering odds of 2.10 for Zizou Bergs vs. Alexander Zverev, and we’re placing three out of ten units on this bet.
